Thank you everyone for bearing with me as I wade through all the different options. budge1: glad to hear I am no alone in second guessing all my decisions. Do give us all an update! I certainly have not made any decisions. I bought a yard of drapery fabric at CC because I wanted to see all the colors in the fabric and I know that is part of my indecision. I'm also thinking of making a couple of bolster cushions for the bergere chairs with the material. BTW, squirrel, I never bought any chair fabric. The chairs were always meant to be a focal point and if you recall, many of the fabrics I was considering were $$. I brought in all fabrics and swatches of the existing wall colors to get their opinion as computer monitors can be deceptive. They first off suggested a gold, but did see the issue of it looking good near the Oat Straw--since both are neutrals, one with more green, the other with more yellow. Then they suggested going a shade darker than the sofa/drapes, but didn't seem too enthused about a terra cotta. At BM, I fould a lovely shade of terra cotta, audubon russet; that is until the salesperson told me it would be too intense to put on all the walls. If I took it a shade less, we would then be thinking about pink. He started steering me towards Wilmington Tan and Tyler Taupe. He liked Tyler Taupe the best as he felt it blended well with all my fabrics plus the Oat Straw. Unfortunately, they were out of the sample paint for Tyler Taupe though it will come in tomorrow and they don't make it in Willington Tan so I'd have to buy a quart. So, tomorrow I plan to go again and pick up some samples, In the meantime, here are the swatches for you to see. The russet is to the upper left near the flower (I tried to match to that), and then left to right are: Willmington Tan, Oat Straw, Tyler Taupe, and False Cypress. I am so confused right now which direction to go--everyone seems to have a different take on it. At this point, I do know I want to paint the entry--the living room I am still at a loss. The more I see the fabrics together the more I like them. I just need something to tie it all together at the same time be an accent to the trim which is in Swiss Coffee. I know these are not on the wall, but perhaps you can take a look and at least let me know if I'm headed in the right direction and which samples to buy.

Thanks for so many great ideas! I have just spent time looking through all the links. I will likely have to have whatever chair I purchase re-upholstered (unless it's a new chair where I can specify my own fabric) so that I can get the color I am looking for, which is as yet undetermined, and because I may look for a sunbrella or similar fade-resistant fabric since these chairs will sit directly in sunlight part of each day. Ogoopogo - I have been trolling ebay and Craigslist. I need to go to some consignment stores as well. I also have thoughts of waiting until the Brimfield Antique Fair in May..... pricklypear - Room & Board is opening a store in the Boston area sometime soon... I am excited. However, I want these LR chairs to be less modern/more traditional to balance out my room which mixes both. The dining chairs I just bought are wonderful. They are from Mitchell Gold as well - I think the name of them is Graham. I love funky dining chairs, but comfort always wins out for me in the end so I chose these. These are tailored nicely, super comfortable, and the fabric selections are really nice - mine is a textured black/brown/gold fabric with a slight sheen. Very pretty with brass fixtures. I welcome other suggestions if anyone comes across other chairs.... Will be sure to post photos when I find something.

For the beach, you might want to opt for solid wood chairs and separate cushions that can be washed and/or changed as needed. Wide slat ladder back chairs would likely be more comfortable than "x" back. Do sit in whatever chair you are considering before buying it. And, unless seriously abused, they can last a really long time. I still have four similar chairs (oak wood and five back slats) that date back to 1971. Especially if your floor is wood, you might want to add some small inexpensive "feet" to protect the floor. Some are even adjustable to help you level the chair on uneven flooring. Some are self adjusting and will tilt if the legs of your chair are not a ninety degree straight leg. You can get many different kinds of feet -- some with plastic/rubber or felt or even a ball. Too much stainless steel in a kitchen or dining room area can make the space feel too cold and sterile. If you already have an industrial vibe elsewhere, maybe consider a glass top with metal base. You could also do an artistic, colored table to add some color and style to the area to match your other decor selections. This is a good time to shop, as many furniture stores are having year-end sales.
