Winterizing Strawberry Plants Raised Bed

VickyRenee
last year

I have a raised bed with strawberry plants on my apartment balcony and need winterizing advice.
They are ever bearing plants and I haven't cut them down. I plan to use hay to cover them for the winter.
I'm in Zone 6a and I was planning on covering them in about early November, but we're supposed to get freezing temps in a few days.
Will the freezing temps kill them before it's time to cover them?
Do I cut them down at all this late? They have big leaves currently.
And since it's in a raised bed on my balcony, do I need to put anything under the raised bed? (I can access underneath as the raised bed has like small wide legs).
Any advice is appreciated!
