Healthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 10/9
Comments (21)Great tips, Legomom -- especially taking a closer look at your food diary! I have zero questions about why I am "stuck"... and while I have done better this week, I am still not back on track. I seem to have this stubborn thing going that is allowing me to take kind of belligerent license. I don't think it is self-sabotage .. maybe it is a reaction to having my dental work pretty much done? I don't know... but I need to stop it RIGHT NOW. Like I said, I have been doing better but still not where I need to be to continue my weight loss. I will say this, when I am focused on healthy eating, IF and general healthy practices, I need only two meals.. one of which is often a glorified snack. I feel satisfied/not hungry and I can stay around +/- 1000 calories. Once I open the door to snacking, I open the door to mindless eating and sneaking up into higher calories. I know that I don't need the snacks.. and worse, they start to become something I think I deserve. I really try to keep any kind of self-rewards separate from my eating .. that is a dangerous slope for me because I think I deserve A LOT! LOL My latest thing to obsess over are my growing jowls. I don't have to look very far to see where they came from-- my mother, my grandmother and my great grandmother all had them and they look/ed just like mine. I think the weight loss is making them more apparent (also my visibly swollend thyroid which I refuse to call by its name). Not sure if I can do anything about them but hoping they become less obvious if/when my skin tightens up. I just want to take a knife and carve them off!...See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 8/20/2023
Comments (21)Things are going well here as far as the exercise goes. I of course can't really lose weight but I'm enjoying going dancing two or three times a week thrown in the mix right now. Going to free summer concerts helps with that. Also we go dancing once a week to alive music pub Friday nights or Saturday nights. The music is pretty good. DH is enjoying tries out different beers one beer each time. Are you ready for fall activities, clothes and food? I'm not ready for Fall. But I am more than ready for Fall. I don't want to stop wearing my summer clothes and going to all the summer dancing that we have been doing. I want the fires to be gone and people to not be too hot who are uncomfortable in the heat. It is weird to feel such Joy in being able to do these summertime activities and feel such sadness for people who are caught in fires and storms and etc. I guess both can exist at the same time but they are uncomfortable together. How are you doing with your healthy lifestyle goals? In as much as I can do my healthy lifestyle style goals are being met. As I said above I can't lose weight. But hopefully I can shift things enough through weight lifting etc to help with my problem areas. I'm looking at you muffin top.. What's going well As I've said before the shortened time span that I eat my meals with IF seems to work very well for me. My weight stays fairly consistent and has ever since I started this program. I don't look at it to help me lose weight as that seems to be a non-starter for me. It does definitely contribute to maintenance. I seem to need to cut out all extra evening snacks to maintain my weight no matter what level of activity I do. What needs more work and focus? I need to weight lift more even if it is body weight lifting and de-stress somehow so that I can lose the excess cortisol in my system and maybe not have a muffin top ;-). Wishing everybody else health and safety. I've been distracted by all these summer activities so haven't said much to individuals. But I think of you all almost every day....See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 9/10/2023
Comments (18)I felt lousy for over a week, just today feeling pretty much like myself (so far). Tested negative 3x for covid and never had a fever. Just headache, intermittent sort throat, fatigue. This has happened to me for years. I will randomly feel run down, that ”I’m getting sick” feeling without ever getting truly sick with anything diagnosable, usually just for a couple of days. I mentioned it to my PCP a few years ago and some tests were done. All fine. I do tend to run slightly low on B and iron, and when I had long covid a couple of years ago I was borderline low so the dr recommended supplements. I have dropped them since, but I think I'll start again. The iron I have taken is this liquid that tastes like garbage but doesn't bother my stomach. I was getting a little worried about my upcoming trip so figured it couldn’t hurt to add this back into my routine until I leave. Funky, apples are so great right now! I have been having one every day, often with almond butter or as a ”side dish” with my scrambled eggs. I find that they feel more like a treat (and take longer to eat) when I cut them up. Oh, and sometimes sprinkle with cinnamon. My bday is next week and I am already planning a ”good eating week” interrupted briefly by dessert that night when we go out to dinner....See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 12/10/2023
Comments (5)I am so sorry you have not been feeling well, Funky. We have had a bug going around, here. DS had it, and then DH lost his voice for a day, with a little cough, but seems to have dodged the full cold, and I (knock on wood) might have dodged it all. I am still full on at Pilates. I LOVE that I can go to the App and pick up a class if there is an opening. I did that yesterday, with a class called Control. It started out like ballet, with plie' and relave', and continued with slow planks and some torturous sideline work on the reformer. Coordination is not my superpower, and I find it difficult to keep the ring between my ankles AND do something else with my hands, LOL. The storm that blew through TN on Saturday was too close, and I had a few drinks (vodka and that fizzy sugar- free drink from Aldi) while my DS and DH streamed one of the YT storm chaser channels. It is bad enough on the ipad!! My town's Bike/Walk group is starting up a walk group around downtown this week, and I may join in on that. They said dogs are welcome, but this doggie C0v1d needs to pass before I am willing to take the dogs out. Strange that C0v1d never bothered me, but I am scared my dogs will get sick!! Here's to a great week!!! (Clink)...See MoreFunkyart
