Kitchens Paint Design Dilemma

SW pure white walls/trim/cabinet + Taj Mahal counters

Hoping someone can reassure me…we had to pick out our cabinet color 8 months ago and went with pure white (could only pick SW). A couple weeks ago we picked our counters as Taj Mahal. They just started painting the whole space painted in pure white I’m getting a little nervous it’s too white. Does anyone have this combo that can reassure me? 😂 it’s too late to change my mind at this point so just looking for some kind words.Ty!!!

This is Madre Perla with white cabinets. Similar to Taj Mahal but with more gray. The countertop will stand on it's own and provide a nice contrast.

Can you take a painted sample to your slab to see if you like it? I think TM works with most whites except for really bright cool whites. SW pure white is warm so I think it should be ok. Your slab is gorgeous! Good luck!

Changing the cabinet color would require also changing the trim/wall color also (I’ve wanted them to all be the same). I agree it’s not life and death and never said it was. But $10k isn’t a small sum of money and it would be much bigger than $10k so the comment isn’t super helpful.

Supposed to pick a couple options for color for my new kitchen's walls tomorrow. But... I'm a paint procrastinator. :( It's my most dreaded decision. I'm doing the ceiling and trim to match the cabinets, but they're stock cabinets, not painted. The closest paint chip match as far as I can tell is SW Pure White. The counters are a leathered black pearl granite and the backsplash is also white. So, I think I'm in a dangerzone if I try to pick a white for the walls. But, some of the wall is wood panelling and I love the look of white panelling. Was thinking maybe Snowbound? I actually recently purchased a pink-toned white for the adjacent room which is very open to this one, so I considered going along with that and doing something pink-ish, but I didn't see a good option in Sherwin Williams. Ackkkk I'm all over the place. HAAAALPPP

We have decided to get countertops first! However, what do you guys think about SW Pure White Walls with BM Paper White cabinets? Will it be tacky, is it enough contrast to look good together or should we stick with everything being Pure White. BM Paper White on the walls in the picture. This would be on our cabinets. I have travertine floors, though not in my kitchen. They have a lot of pattern and several colors, though mine do not have a pink hue that some travertine has. You have 2 islands and a bar and travertine floors and outer cabinets in White Dove. Now you are adding Taj Mahal--a dramatic stone--and a second color of cabinets. That is a whole lot going on. Are you sure? While I think Taj Mahal is beautiful, I am not sure how it will look with travertine floors. Can you post a photo of your current kitchen? Those counters will be very expensive.

Hi! Yes, I think Bona high traffic. Or maybe that was the sealer they used. I think they used Dura Seal. Just found this sample sheet in my kitchen draw. We used the middle sample. QC 11 Hope this helps! We put a matte finish on the floors. Very little shine to it. It’s great but note that if you go that route. You can’t really scoot things that would scratch across the wood. It removes the matte and you will see a sheen streak in the right lighting or angle. Just a heads up if you go that route. Not too big of a deal, if you know in advance. We pic up and slide anything a tad heavy. Pads for bar stools etc.. Best of luck! Lmk if you have any more questions 😊

Thanks Lynn Lou! Yes I am going to compare the slab and will bring the samplize sample tomorrow. I think I just got overwhelmed with all the white today but it will look different with wood floors also.

I have SW pure white paint in my bathrooms and it’s a beautiful warmer white. I think it will look fab!

Verbo. Super helpful once again 🤣 I’m looking for someone who has actually experienced the situation since I am just in the middle of it and haven’t seen it together. Clearly a solution is paying more money. That doesn’t take an experienced designer to tell you that.

It's a proprietary cabinet finish, similar to White Dove but with a little less warmth.

We used BM Chantilly Lace with Taj Mahal in our kitchen. I tested all the whites and have large windows that face north in sunny FL. The Chantilly Lace was the sample that stayed white and bright in my space, while the other whites didn't.

Used the same Chantilly Lace on all my trim, doors and ceilings.

The walls are now BM White Dove, which is a warmer white and goes well with my furnishings, art, wood floors and stained beams.

You will be fine!

If you find things too white once you move in, all you have to do is repaint the walls in some of the rooms. I had picked a darker color to begin with, done by the builder, and have done my own repainting with the White Dove ... I'm not young anymore and my walls are 10 - 12 ft high, so unless you have a physical disability, it can be done DIY by the average person.

Just went through my kitchen Ideabook and I had this one saved that is supposed to be SW Pure White for the cabinets and Taj Mahal counters. The backsplash is from Tabarka.

Similar to Taj Mahal but with more gray.

Agreed. We've measured the colors of both Taj polished quartz and Madre Perola and they have nearly identical hue families.

I am about to do the same thing. How did your pure white cabinets turn out with your Taj Mahal? I have Drift of Mist walls but wondering if I need to go a little warmer than pure white. But i love pure white and it is my trim color all over my house
