I was looking for pugster blue but couldn't find it..but did find blue chip jr at local lowes. So happy that I have all colors covered for now. Have the bicolor too..lol :) Meanwhile my abe darby is getting ready to bloom. Only if I had the place for another red rose it would have come home with me.

Hey Tom, I know I have a pretty rare one I got from a friend in which his visited I think was Columbia from the forest, then I have a few other pretty cool ones. I will take pics and you can see the leaves. I would love that! I am rooting some now...Who knows, maybe one of my mother plants will die and you could carry on with it and have back up just as I would for you. While this is bumped, will circle back to say my 'Perfume Princess' was planted last weekend. In a raised mini-bed abutting a north facing stone wall. Amusingly enough, after waiting years to get one of these suckers, and finally ordering it from the very reputable Dancing Oaks which was one of the first mail order nurseries to offer it...suddenly Monrovia's website has changed/updated in a way that "allows" it to be sold to an east coast zone 7. But I'd prefer to support Dancing Oaks anyhow - and Monrovia wants 2X as much for it - it's just that for at least the 2 prior springs I had been trying to order it with Monrovia's "order and pickup at a local nursery" which OUGHT to be the wave of the future for large wholesalers, but it wouldn't let me. I don't think the way they are going about implementing it is particularly intelligent. If there is some reason they think it isn't suitable for your area, the website ought to inform you of that. "We shall see what we shall see"

I had a "Butterfly Heaven" for several years before the polar vortex nearly killed it. It did produce several seedlings, a couple of which I transplanted to a well drained spot in the yard, and they have come back strong every year since then. I also see some larger BB's on other properties in my area that have survived long term (including through the polar vortex years). The hardiness of different varieties does vary. I'm guessing that a few of the older varieties like "Black Knight", "Pink Delight", and "White Profusion" are hardier than average, and there is a variety called "Windy Hill" (no experience with it myself) that was selected for superior hardiness. Some of the newer varieties apparently have good hardiness as well. Even though my buddleias produce seedlings on a fairly regular basis, they're never going to become invasive in this climate.
