Bm Silver Satin, Cloud cover. For the trim maybe Chantilly lace. But are you sure you want go into gray direction?

Thanks so much for your suggestion. Funny, of all the colors so far, I've already been contemplating Chantilly lace for the trim. Okay, I'll check out Silver Satin, Cloud. I really do want all white but I was afraid to choose one that works with Chantilly Lace. I want my kitchen cabinet doors to be whiter than the walls so they'll pop. That is the reason I was thinking of grey undertones in the white for the walls. I'm going to be using the same wall and trim colors throughout my house. The large window in my LR faces north.

I was comparing paint chips all weekend. I found one that I liked but didn't know what to match it with. I had to take a break after spending all day looking at paint chips. lol

@Garden Mist, both bathrooms: the top of walls is Bm Cloud cover. It looks a little different in 2 bathrooms. Bottom part of walls is tiles in both bathrooms. Trim on the window casing was BM White, but not 100% sure. You could also take a look at Bm Sheep's wool.

The majority of walls in our house are white. We chose white dove and love it. It’s a warm white and looks great in all kinds of lighting.

I can’t remember the paint color of the trim ( and kitchen cabinets), but it is a whiter white. It gives just enough contrast to the wall color.

BM White Dove on wall and BM Chantilly Lace on trim. The darker color is BM Winds Breath that I am repainting over.

Hi Chispa, thanks for showing your wall. The White Dove on the wall paired with Chantilly Lace looks perfect. Yes, the Winds Breath would be just a bit too dark. I think Chantilly Lace on the trim is great. What color would you suggest for my white kitchen cabinets? Do I stay with the same as the all the trim in Chantilly Lace? Thanks again.

All my trim, doors and kitchen cabinets are BM Chantilly Lace. I based my selection of that main white, on which one looked best in my large north facing kitchen. I tested lots of whites and the Chantilly Lace was the one that looked like a clean bright white in that space. The other whites either went yellow, gray or dull. I am in FL so we get lots of bright sunshine year round.

You need to test what white looks best in your particular location and lighting.

You also need to test the White Dove with your floors because it might be a bit too "yellow" for the floor color. In certain spots I find the White Dove a bit too yellow, but I have a lot of warm finishes in my house so overall it looks better than some of the grayer whites, which looked drab next to my warmer decor/art/furniture.

Choose the wall color first. Then choosing your trim and ceiling color doesn't become such a challenge. For instance, the walls in the photo are B.M. Horizon.

I'm choosing this color for you walls, because it is a very light gray with green undertones. Take a look at your floors as shown in you photo...do you see a light green cast in the darker tones? I going with a hint of green in the gray will keep the room from looking too blah.

The white recommended for Horizon is Chantilly Lace...semi-gloss on wood work and flat on ceiling.

However, if you are just looking to do white, pair Chantilly Lace with B.M. OC-151, simply named White.

My two cents is you are going too light on the walls. The floors are commanding and you need a darker tone on the wall...Revere Pewter, for instance.

What is the info on the floor? I'd like to see a photo not in your room in case your natural light is skewing tones.

My sofa is a smokey grey.

Today, I am shopping for an area rug for my livingroom just maybe a 5x7. I will also need some advice for what color I should get? I was thinking a lighter grey with a little bit of blue and white in it. What do you think?

What do you think of B.M. Collingwood for the walls? It is in the off=white collection. I have used this before and it is a delightful color. Add Chantilly Lace for a bright white trim, and the same on the ceiling you have a good combo going. Collingwood loves grays and blues. That will work with a rug in blues.

What style rug are you looking for? I like this one because smokey gray isn't the dominant color but it and the other colors will ground the sofa. I also like it for you floors because the border relates well with the tones of the floor.

Or, are you looking more toward this look?

Hi judianna, thank you for helping me. I like the rug but I don't love it. I think it might be too busy for my small living room. The floor is patterned and I think the 2 patterns will clash somehow. I love the grey and the blue but not the orangey color so much.

Here is a pic showing the color of my sofa. It's called 'smokey grey" but it is a taupish grey.

I love the colors in this one. Seems a little more neutral because it's rather light and airy. I don't think it will over power the vinyl planking. I'm mostly drawn to the grey and blue as well as the traditional design like the one you showed me. I can see blue undertones in my floors.

I like the rug a lot. When you described the sofa as smokey gray I was thinking much, much darker. Again, thanks for the photo. As is said, "a picture is worth..."

I was on a blog yesterday and chat was about ruggables. A commentator mentioned an alternative because the patterns were plentiful and colors were truer than the ruggables. Also, machine washable. Take a look at some of these from nu-loom. Put a good felt pad under and the rug shows "rich".

I am having a similar dilemma. Doing chantilly lace most of my house, including ALL trims. I wanted a bit of a warmer white in my dining room since I have wood furniture there. But I don't like yellow!

I am afraid white dove is too yellow. Any suggestions of which paint color will go to chantilly lace trim, will be warmer than CL but not throw yellow but still be a classic white?? Looking at simply white and wondering how that is. and open to hearing suggestions! Thank you!

Hi Leib, I decided to go with Chantilly Lace for my wood work.. I'm also thinking of Simply White for my walls, It seems a lot of folks seem to be loving that color. 2 great minds think alike. lol
