Update on my surgery

Hi all, still in the hospital , will be going to rehab on monday. dealing with a considerable amount of pain. Surgery was successful. will send another note when I am “ with it “

That’s what I call progress! My last fusion was in 2005 and the bones came from my hip. Cadaver bone was in 2003 in neck. Original fusion was with hardware……😝😝😝

Younger doctors now with newer procedures.

I'm glad the surgery was successful, but I'm sorry about the pain you're experiencing. Hope it subsides soon. Best wishes for rehab.

TMG I'm so glad to know that you are doing well. Keep infuriating the therapists! I just wanted to let you know that you've spread some more happiness in the world. My junking friend that I shared the little flower plates with was totally struck by their beauty. She must have told me 10 times over the course of an afternoon how much she loved them. And she needs happy moments whenever she can get them, even more than some of the rest of us: a year after her beautiful teen grandaughter was paralyzed from the shoulders down in a car accident, her daughter (mom of the teen) died (1 yr ago today.) It makes me so happy when she is happy. Thank you again for sharing. My friend doesn't come to this site (hates computers) and has never seen a plate flower so it will be interesting to see what she comes up with. Kathy

I hope that with the arrival of the new grandbaby, good things keep on coming your way from now on!! Congratulations to the granddaughter and have a wonderful time. It is so special the first time you hold that precious grandchild. I was fortunate and was there at the birth of my first grandson. I just saw and posted on the other thread. Sorry I didn't see this one first. Glad you are doing well and hope the headaches and dizziness will calm down for you. The human body has amazing ways of dealing with things. My first sone was born on a Friday and I crashed later that morning -- which only served to add more drama, to the point of ridiculousness, to the fact that DH's ex was having surgery on a brain tumor on Monday. At least I was out of ICU by then, but my reason for including this aside was that hers was large but completely benign and my oldest will be 20 this summer. More wishes for a smooth recovery!

Great that you have good reports, Glenda. I hope that the healing goes well with no complications. I haven't heard "hunky dory" in many years, that I can recall - perhaps since I heard Dad use it when I was a kid. I spent little time with Dad after I left home at about 19 ... just before his second marriage, though that didn't have a connection. ole joyful

My trip to rehab got delayed two days….. bed space and a low blood count.

I believe I will be going home late tuesday. Still have considerable pain and hoping for a good nights rest. have a bulky vest to wear to keep my spine straight. This surgery isnt for whimps. finally got my head in the right place to communicate with you all. Still have family I havent spoken to.

Consider us your extended flower family. I've been wondering how it went at rehab. Apparently it hasn't gone well. I hope that you do indeed get to go home next Tuesday so you can at least get an uninterrupted nights sleep. My prayers go with you as you recover.................Maryl

Sherry, I jjust saw this post……I am asuming you had back surgery? Fusion? I understand completely as I have been through 3 spinal fusions myself, 2 lower back 15 years apart and one in the neck as well. Did doctors harvest your hip bone or was a cadaver bone used? My worst pain was where they harvested the hip bone, but I remember hating wearing that back brace everywhere for 3 months! And yes, rehabbing is very difficult. You are in my thoughts.

Debra in Wi, thanks for the well wishes. Docs dont use donor or cadaver bone anymore, hurray !

Home from the hospital yesterday. Im doing better but low stamina. gotta wear that bulky vest for three months. Its hard not being able to do the small things I always do.
