Bugs on my Buds!!
Comments (6)I've taken scale off buds and flowers by putting a drop of undiluted ivory dishwashing liquid on it, then wiping either with fingers or with a Q tip, depending on what seemed right. They slide right off. Once they're clean of what you can see, you can spray buds safely with Safer's Insecticidal Soap to get any invisibles or eggs. I've used it several times, and it doesn't harm buds. Or just use the Safer's if you prefer. Reinspect in a few days and repeat if necessary....See MoreAn observation about the pepper forum.
Comments (96)Its a good Idea and thanks for sharing it with other forum members. Deep roots in a small aria and free pots. I did read about it being used probably 20 years ago by a Dutchman who wrote a book called Sea of Green and find it very interesting that it has other more down to earth uses . Might have to use it myself next year it can really minimize the space needed to get a good root system going before planting out. If growing starts under lights that is important and I think you will not be the only member using it next year. Thanks...See MoreWeek 27: A day late and $ short!
Comments (30)cal_quail, I do hope you and yours feel better soon. It's so miserable to be sick and end up having to take care of someone else! I wanted to ask about something you've not mentioned. Permits. If they were not drawn, how are you going to handle that? All this work is rendered illegal in my state. If you ever sell, unpermitted work can nix a sale. When we had a house fire, the first thing they wanted to see were permits for everything. Given we'd just purchased 2 years before, and the house was built in 1976, all I could produce were the mouse-eaten, original blue prints. There was much back and forth about how much they'd cover until they determined the cause of the fire (which turned out to be crazy wrong, anyway). What do you think they'll do about that!? Edited to add: Winterizing. Well, I missed the opportunity to unhook all my hoses and timers. They froze and I think it blew a seal. Too cold to tell, and too cold to turn the water off in the garage. Gotta wait for this weekend when it warms to assess the damage. Still trying to start the generator. I jumped it, but it just won't turn over. Gotta get a friend to at least listen for me. As of this minute, my computer is making a horrendous noise. I'm thinking it's the fan, since the pressure of my wrists causes it to dull. This Dell Inspiron (my 3rd) 1555 has been a SERIOUS lemon. 3rd hard drive, 2nd battery, 4th memory module, and now this. AND, I'm sick to the teeth of Internet explorer. I dislike slapping tons of software on my computer that all do the same thing. I've lost yet another browser session, where I was actually working. Downloading Firefox, although I've never liked it very much. I'm having a not-so-great morning here. Grrrrrr. Comments (73)Millions of Americans have been diagnosed with OCD and other anxiety disorders. These personalities operate on a 'what if' rationale of fearful alert. These are disorders of the mind. Afflicted people can't help their feelings, other than remembering that they are prone to false perceptions. The rest of us can more easily be guided by facts. NONE of the people who came into contact any of the THREE documented cases of Ebola in the US have developed the disease. Incubation is normally three to eight days; Duncan's contacts have stayed isolated for 21 days 'just in case', and have NOT developed Ebola. Even Mr. Duncan might not have died if the ER had recognized his Ebola when he first came to the hospital, before the disease was obvious. I predict we won't see Dr. Nancy until this all blows over. Maybe she's ready to retire. Most females on TV have a 'sell by' date....See MoreLoneJack Zn 6a, KC
