I would like to install hardware now because I've been wanting to do this for years but have been waiting to paint the cabinets, which just hasn't happened yet. I don't like having to touch the drawers and doors in order to open them and they do get dirty faster. I also thought it might look better to have hardware. We just replaced the old, hard water damaged faucet to a nice new Hansgrohe faucet and even that improvement, though small, makes me happy :) As jbrig mentioned, I'm now back to wondering whether we should paint the cabinets if we're going to sell the house. I have posted on this before and still keep going back and forth as to whether it's a good idea to spend time and money painting and/or replacing the appliances if a new buyer might just want to tear it all out anyway! Besides painting, I priced appliances over the weekend and it would probably be around $7,000 to replace the Kitchenaid appliances with new stainless steel (if I buy them at Sears Outlet as they become available - would be over $10,000 if I just purchase them all at once from regular appliance store). I'm going to follow up with the agent on this to get more advice. If changing the kitchen won't help us sell or increase our selling price, then I might want to put that money towards my next kitchen instead :) If I do paint, it's a great idea to try out different colors on poster boards and then ask for input on GW. I'll definitely do that! JessHS - we used Sherwin Williams Antique White throughout our whole house on all the doors and trim (pillars, windows, crown, baseboard, etc.). It's a very pretty creamy white in our house, not too yellow or drab, and works well with our walnut stained floors and warm neutrals. I'm just not sure if it will work with the counters. You can definitely mix finishes and I agree that the antique brass would go with your granite, floors and sink. Go for it. Your kitchen will be unique. I like the look of antique brass and have seen some pretty faucets that come with that finish also. My only question is does antique brass have to be polished like regular brass?

I agree with others-the antique brass will not look like a fad if YOUR home is already filled with aged brass. You said "I see the antique brass much more." Do you mean you see it (in your mind's eye) in your home or that you see it in the design magazines/blogs? If the former, then I think you can just go with your gut and if the latter hopefully what we're all saying just serves to reassure you. RE: faucets. I'm not sure I'd do polished chrome, but I'm anal retentive about coordinating things. You didn't mention your appliances...if you have anything stainless, I think brushed/satin nickel or stainless faucet might relate nicely. If you don't mind the higher maintenance of those aged bronze finishes...I absolutely heart the Tuscan Brass faucet linked below. A local showroom showed this faucet with the extra raised deck union fittings-not sure if I have the right terminology-and I coveted in desperately. (Back when there was a prep sink in our plan, this was my faucet, along with the Waterstone Gantry faucet at the clean up sink. sigh.) But I have an unnatural attraction to sexy faucets. :) Actually, I was channel surfing at the height of my TKO last year and saw Kirstie Alley's kitchen (or set?) where I spotted the same Rohl faucet, froze the tv on tivo, and snapped a still photo to show my husband. My light fixture is a very hard color to explain. It's kind of gold but has silvery undertones? I feel like antique brass may actually end up being close but not close enough and stick out worse than using polished nickel. I really, really love how warm your kitchen feels. Since my island is a warm wood I'm going to go for the PN.. Though I still love antique brass and it's in a few other light fixtures throughout the house. Springoz WOW!! Lathyrus One regret I have is that my door knobs are just the cheapest ORB we could find. My hope is to slowly replace them with antique brass knobs. Yours are absolutely beautiful. I did find ONE cabinet knob that looks like true antique brass, unfortunately I felt like some of the other options just didn't match it well. They were more.. Yellow?
