Paint color for kitchen walls/cherry cabinets?

We moved into our home about 6 months ago, and I'd like to repaint these dark gray kitchen walls. The whole room, which us north-facing, feels very dark. We plan to keep the custom cherry cabinets, but i plan to replace the gray Corian countertops with a white or off-white quartzite, maybe marble-like look...not sure. Will also change cabinet hardware to something brighter. Want to make the 4-foot wide island one level surface, counter height. Also want to add a light-colored tile backsplash. *For the walls, I am leaning toward a sage green. We like nature-inspired colors and decor, and it currently looks too starkly modern. Suggestions, especially for wall color, are very welcome! Can you recommend a specific shade of sage green? Thanks!!

since cherry has red undertones, pick a gray or taupe that also leans that way. or toward the greens.

I actually like that warm charcoal color. But here are some grays that should go w/the cherry.

have you considering upping your bulbs to 4000K? (if you haven't already) it will reduce the yellowish hues.

Have you considered adding some glass to a few of your uppers? you have a long span of cabinets w/no visual break. Tried to photoshop in a few so you could see

cherry cabs with some type of quartz countertop and a blue/gray backsplash

cherry with a lot of white. consider moving your microwave elsewhere and getting a vent hood

if you're redoing the countertop, can you extend your island top to one level?

Maybe have table legs on the end for eating

I'd bring in some diff pendants and switch to gold

replace your knobs w/gold handles. (makes the cabinet doors look so much prettier)

this is just a quick photoshop to show you what the one level would look like, some handles and two pendants instead of that one triple.

You could even add some butcher block to one end if you like.

diff ways to lay out that island. if you did this style, do an overhang on one side for seating

Look at BM Old Prairie 2143-50 and November Rain 2142-60. If those aren't quite right, there are other greens close to those chips that might work.

I agree that the wall color is off and would go for something that is more of a soft white with less pink in it. I know there is a pinky beige in your counter but you don't have to bring out all of the countertop tones and I think anything beige is going to clash with the cherry. Our old kitchen had cherry cabinets and Ben Moore maritime white walls. I loved the walls so much, when we got our new kitchen, we had cabinets made in that color.

Good question:), recently, we got all the walls painted white as we wanted the house to be bright. We did not think much about each detail then. If we start thinking of kitchen walls, we would have to consider living room walls too as it is an open concept floor plan and it would become a bigger project of painting walls that we just undertook. So I thought we could start with just the kitchen and do the cabinet paint and other hardware changes that have been overdue.

I have B.M. Revere Pewter in my North/South facing living room/dining room. Revere Pewter works beautifully with both natural lights. Thinking Revere Pewter is a bit off with the cherry cabinets, and found this blog...homeowner used Revere Pewter cut 75% for her island. This formula may work for you walls. And, if it does, you may find the gray counters are fine.

Judianna20, I do like Revere Pewter and used it in several rooms of our previous homes. I also considered it for this kitchen, but was thinking of something with a bit more green. Thanks for that link, very helpful!

RL, yes! Changing the pendant lights probably will happen before painting the walls. Lol. I've been browsing lighting options too.

Beth, those ideas and paint swatches with my photo are super helpful. Thanks! Yes...i also wondered about replacing some of the cabinet doors with glass. I like the idea of repositioning island but no room to extend. It opens directly into DR, with table only a few feet away. Great ideas, though. Thanks much.

@Victoria Hackman just know you only have one power supply above that island. I would consider a few things there. Notice how much larger the space feels with nothing. The island isnt huge, one hanging fixture could end up being more interesting here.

1. no pendants

2. only do two

3. only do one cool hanging fixture.

RL, yes, I agree that we could do with less than 3 small pendants over that small island. Here's a view from the other direction, looking out from the island toward the living room. The black iron dining room chandelier is just 7.5 feet from the existing island light fixture. I don't want to change DR light, so I need something complementary for island. I believe it does need some kind of light there. Would a single pendant look odd just 7 feet from DR chandelier? Or would 2 smaller pendants look better? I definitely will be making island a sungle-level counter height. Probably top with white quartzite.

we have to also keep in mind those pendants actually light that work surface now.

I love your dining fixture, you are right one would be a bit weird with the chandelier so close. The two light I posted below between the pictures by generation lighting, aka Murry Fiess probably could look good. but maybe a single if it is the right style? tossing ideas.

Thanks, RL. I've also been looking at the Bicycle Glass cluster pendants, either clear or gray glass, with black hardware. I love that they're handmade in US (and I think recycled material). But it's pretty pricey.
