Do I need a permit to move a light switch to an adjoining wall?
Comments (2)Permitting issues are highly local. I suspect however in most places the whole scope of the work (moving walls, wiring) requires a permit. How hard of a deal with this is purely one of access. You're going to have to relocate the wire and depending on the situation it may be that you end up pulling a new wire. As for the light, is this a clothes closet? The answer depends on which wall it's only 9" from, but I assume it's not the one with the door, so yes it will have to be moved. Alternatively, you can just remove the light from the closet entirely (the NEC doesn't require one)....See MoreThis is 1 of 2 adjoining bedrooms. Should I paint ceiling/wall same?
Comments (11)I think you could, but in our ceiling like that, we painted the 45 angles the same color as the vertical walls, and put the white only on the middle horizontal line of the room. It was shocking at how different the room felt. It was like someone finally got the combo just right. We had a light green walls, with only the white on the horizontal of the ceiling... The room felt so much larger! So you might consider that. In your case, if you want to do something different?? just put the blue on the horizontal line of the ceiling and put the white on the walls and 45 degree angle surfaces. Blue ceiling are soooo coool! And ....ne'er a spider will make a web there, really! It is crazy but true....See MoreCounter install left large gap over adjoining end wall
Comments (3)How deep is the overhang (12", 15", more?) And, how thick is the stone (2cm, 3cm)? The stone gurus here probably need that info to weigh in....See Morebrick gap between base and adjoining wall
Comments (7)Drainage + structural. The right adjoining wall is a brick enclosure for the stairs to the basement. A gap like this, will over time undermine a foundation, trickling into everything around it. Currently, the water leaks down from that gap which is about 9' long (all broken or easily movable by hand) then reappears two feet over leaking down the stairwell that leads to the basement. I have water damage all around the brick work from water getting under it and burrowing a path, breaking the mortar above it....See MoreRedRyder
