Should we paint the garage door trim to match the siding color?
Comments (0)We recently painted our house, including the siding, all the trim, and the front door. The siding color was previously a light shade of gray, and the front door was black. We were hoping that the new color scheme would cause the garage to recede while also pulling attention to the front door (which is always in the shadows due to the large tree in front, the angle of the house, and the porch roof). We went ahead and painted the garage door trim to match all the other trim. I am sort of feeling that it looks too busy with that garage door trim causing lines to pop out across the front expanse of the garage. Maybe there's just not a good way around it; the original house design, combined with the large tree, really makes the garage prominent. If we painted the garage door trim the same color as the siding, would that look odd? Would it make the garage look too imposing as a wall of nearly solid green? Should we accept the fact the garage is prominent and consider getting nicer doors that we might paint white?...See MoreDo door trim and baseboards need to match window trim (style-wise)?
Comments (5)We have an old house. Much of the trim didn't match between the old 1850ish and the addition of 1889. No one ever noticed. If the size of the 2 trims don't compliment each other, that would be more of a giveaway....See MoreFuture garage door trim color to match garage door or future windows?
Comments (3)You have a very beautiful and big house. I really like it. It seems to me that the new garage doors should be beige. This color will be ideally combined with both white windows and brick facade color. I recently also ordered the installation of new garage doors of the easyfixnashville.com company. The guys are professionals; they even helped me find the perfect gate for my garage. It was high time to do this because my old garage doors were not automated, and it was very difficult for me because of this. In winter, it is especially difficult when it is cold to open and close the garage doors manually....See MoreHelp me! What color to replace green trim/door/garage???
Comments (23)All these people who are recommending you select a color for the doors so they don't stand out are simply mimicking something that is often said on this forum. Do you really think your home looks better with a color selected from the stone? I don't. Garage doors have to be considered on a case-by-case basis. Sometimes they need to blend in and sometimes they need to command attention. I can't believe you hid the balance of the house in your first post. Very important info. I'm assuming you don't want to restain the siding. It would be nice to get a decent accurate picture of the siding instead of the sideways view. It's a great color for your home. The bright green trim is the problem as has been already stated. All the windows should be painted the same color. Sometimes window frames blend in and sometimes they contrast and stand out....See Moreartemis78
