Question: is the siding white or a very light grey? Hard to tell from your picture.

Its a very light gray.

I'd remove all the shutters, they don't fit the windows.

Wouldn’t that be too bland? I thought about real shutters that are size appropriate or none but I took them off in photoshop and it just looked unfinished and naked

I think the shutters on your house gives it detail so I would keep them. However they are too narrow so I would replace them with wider ones. I'm showing here a dark gray with your light grey siding, gray trim at the roof line, gray shutters and front door. If you keep the flag post I would paint it in the dark gray as well. Here's the look...

Kandrewspa, I considered adding a porch and taking the left windows and the right windows and turning them into matching triple windows and adding a porch. That would be down the road though.

Powerwash the roof and eliminate the shutters. Then repaint the house a warm ivory with golden taupe trim as below, which will tie together the very attractive stone foundation as well as the roof. Door could be a dark pumpkin color like this one below.

Work with a garden designer to create some deep front beds with shrubs, grasses, and perennials as well as a stone walkway. A walkway with same stones would extend the house.

Be mindful of what your curtains look like from the outside. Some great tall plants inside in front of the picture window would connect inside to outside.

Remove the shutters and replace with a wide tirm. The colors in kandrewspa's "Modern Bungalow" look great...soft sage green with white trim.

I can’t change the color. I mean I can but behind the house is an attached 60’ airplane hangar with a 30’ hangar door. That’s a huge expense because the house and hangar is a lot bigger than it looks.

I’d rather use that $ for power washing the siding and roof, upgrading the exterior and landscaping. I don’t mind the color

@lisdev Gave you the least expensive idea. Unless you can paint the window trim the dark charcoal shutters are the way to go. The door can be changed after you see how the new shutters look. Priming the door now may help visualize a better color.

I would go with no shutters. lisedv gave you nice option.

Are you moving there, selling it on or renting it out?

Never power wash a roof. It will ruin it faster than anything.

@Olychick: Thanks for the heads' up on not power washing the roof. Maybe there's a gentler way to clean a roof that's very visible?

The light gray doesn't really work well with the stone or the roof.

I think increasing the white trim around the windows and adding white trim around the doorway, painting inside the door area white and changing the house color might give you the biggest bang for the buck.

You need something that creates depth and the doorway is the ideal place to break that constant color up across the front of the house.
