brutuses, what you are doing is exactly what I would like to do. The space is only 187 inches. I have more wall space room to the left of the slider (see pics below), but the deck does not continue there--so I can't have the slider going outside to nowhere. I do have room to do five foot sliders or french doors on either side of the fireplace. However, the problem is that we would have to custom order the doors at a much higher expense--and the bigger problem is that if we just do five foot doors, the floor vent will be in the spot where the fireplace is and will need to be plugged. If we do a six foot slider we can get a stock door, and the fireplace will be shifted over enough such that we can keep the vent and we can just keep the four foot window on the other side. I just don't know if that will look weird given the different widths of the glass on either side. Another option is to have the fireplace where the slider is now and then just have a slider on the other side of the fireplace where the four foot windows are now. Below are pics of the entire wall. We have a dining room set at one end (no windows on that part of the wall) and then the rest of the room is a living room area and the entire wall in that part of the room is the slider/windows. But I don't know if that will look even stranger with a strecth of wall space with no windows--the first part of the wall being the dining room hutch, then a fireplace, and then a slider or french doors--ie window on only one side of the fireplace. all opinions very welcome!!!

You don't like the peninsula? Someone suggested it in the previous thread, and I thought it was a great idea. People would be able to sit at the counter and chat with whoever's cooking. Also, I could hang a small flat-screen TV on the wall to the left of the range, so the cook can watch cooking videos. And if I use a slightly larger 30" or 36" Ikea base cabinet, I thought I could add some pretty substantial storage space. Do you really think it looks bad? Please don't tell me that tastes/preferences are personal and to go with what I like...I have zero experience with kitchen design, and I've been told that I have bad taste! Just some screenshots I feel relate to your I feel like if you can get one sectional instead of all the different couches it would look better, behind the sectional you could place a sofa table with a couple lamps ect. and a end table at the other end. This shows a TV in front of the window. You would not mount the TV, the console would ideally be slightly wider than the TV, it would also be elevated off the ground to allow air space, you would also set up your curtain rod to be the width of the TV console (which should be high enough to cover the length of the curtains) this way they don't need to reach the ground but remember they should be hung as high as possible, then put some blinds on the window, and it would be nice with two bookshelves too. Everything needs to be lightened up to open it up, move away from the black and dark furniture pieces. If you end up having room at the end of the sectional possible you could fit another accent chair, and you should be able to keep the small hall tree/ coat hooks space at entry.

Hey Matt, I truly do not know what to say about the window situation but, I'd say yes to the new windows with the black and if it's really a priority do a double window on the right side and leave the existing one on the left. You could probably design around the unevenness of the double window in your small office. It would definitely look much better on the exterior. Also the black fascia would look awesome, it really makes a statement. Hope this helps :)
