Beautiful setting! Are you set on black for the roof? I’m just wondering if it could be too harsh/heavy with your long, low roofline. You mentioned white paint. That would definitely provide contrast against the landscaping vs blending. Just my own thoughts…I’m not a pro. See what some of them here think.

@chloebud, not nevessarily. we’re open to other options. the current metal roof is slate grey. we thought a darker color would go nicer with lighter paint colors of the brick and siding.

@lisedv, that looks great thank you! There are few houses in our city that are painted in dark colors, and they look nice. We’re just not sure those colors would like nice with our surrounding. As you can see, the house is surrounded by very mature trees and it sits on a corner lot.

Agree with lisedv on a soft/warm white.

If you have black windows and paint the house white it will look like you were trying to do Modern Farmhouse on a mid-century rancher. For me, this isn't a good look. Although I love it the way it is, I can certainly understand wanting a change. I like the two color look. Does all of it need to be painted? You could do a creamy white on the top where it is now dark to change the look, or a light gray.

@kandrewspa, actually we will be completely redoing the middle of the house. we will be raising the walls to 10 and 13 feet and adding a second level on the 10 foot portion. we will have large overhang to match the rest of the house. it will be a modern prairie house when competed.

Your house looks gorgeous. Take a look at some of the Brick and Batten relooked homes for inspiration. They have several different websites showing different models with quite a few of their black and white themes where they introduce some wood as an accent, sometimes doors, sometimes columns or other arthitectural details. They also show a lot of dark colours. I have no idea how much they charge for a sketch of a makeover but they do a lot of nice looking home relooks...

I'm liking the current colors more than I think I would a white body. The current color scheme seems to blend in with your site and landscaping more than a white house would.

To me this is that style of house ext and white IMO is the wrong choice
