Tile/Carpet remodel ideas needed!

Megan K
last year

We recently purchased our first home and well…the previous owners had some active pets. The carpet desperately needs to be removed. Here’s my dilemma: the tile.

The tile was installed by a previous (previous) owner and it is quite well done. As you can see in photos, it covers the entry, kitchen, hall and laundry. It’s not the most beautiful tile in the world, but it’s neutral, solid and easy to clean.

I can’t do carpet, so I want to install an alternative...but what do I install and what do I do about the tile?

Some have suggested luxury vinyl and leave the tile. Others have suggested ripping the tile out and just having one type of flooring throughout (for resale purposes). There’s gotta be another solution out there?

It’s a ranch-style house, built in 96, in the PNW…and I’m on a budget.

Any ideas??

P.S. ignore the walls 🫣
