Entryway into living room

Help please! Any thoughts on how to arrange our living room so it’s more comfortable and aesthetic? I am not good at interior decorating so any ideas or recommendations are much appreciated. Paint color ideas welcome too. Thanks in advance!

1 rug the length of the wall where the coats are hung. Do you home school? Seems like this is more of a toy/classroom than living room. How many sit in this room on a regular basis? You only have seating for 2 now.

Not sure where this is located, but clearly there are regional influences that should be considered in designing the interior as well as the climactic impact on the exterior. I think on the outside, I'd just make a durable walkway to the porch and then add seating there. Given how fragile arid plants can be, I wouldn't do anything to encourage guests to spend time in the yard at all...unless you make a specific area, say a stoned circle with chairs. But to start out as a b&b, I'd probably put my money elsewhere. On the interior, esp for the public spaces, I'd probably do a neutral backdrop and let the accent colors come from the furnishings and accessories. If I wanted to warm up the space in the bedroom area, I'd think about doing maybe an accent wall in a saturated color to stand up to all the wood.

This is an old thread. What did you end up doing. I would have suggested that you put the sofa on the wall as it would seem more welcoming. You could get a little bench or entry table for the wall with the coats and door. Regularly warn shoes can go under the bench to keep them out of the way or you could even get a basket to put them in. I like the photo Natalia shared. What did you end up doing?

I would not have noticed the chair colors were different unless you pointed it out. And there is so much lovely vibrant color in the room, it doesn't look odd at all. Really fun space - love the layered rugs and groovy accessories. Enjoy!!

Yes, the space was used as more of a classroom during COVID and now I would like to update it to a family space. This is a secondary living space.

I would try the sofa in front of the window and put TV on opposite wall on a wide console (at least 25% wider) than the TV. Then 2 swivel chairs (small scale). Maybe a room divider to make more of an entry way

I'm going to offer an idea outside the norm. Take down the coat storage(use closet) and pictures. Place the tv on that wall. Replace the sofa with a sofa and chaise from Ikea for $1500 Link. plus an ottoman. Many styles. Pocketed coil cushions will last. Cover is removable. 10-year warranty. You can place it up perpendicular to the window to leave room behind for desks or storage. Paint the door the wall color or replace it with a flat panel door to blend it in.

Thank you all! I got rid of almost everything and painted the walls. I want a TV on this wall but not sure what entertainment center or console to put with it. Any recommendations?

Something with storage and suitable for a tabletop TV if you want? This is very rustic but there are lots of styles.
