Since you just moved in I would give it some more time before you commit to doing anything with this space. There are so many things to spend money on when you move. There are probably more important things to spend money on right now. Over time the best use will become apparent. It does look like it would lend itself to an arrangement of one or two chairs, a small table and maybe also a bookshelf if you have a use for it. I don't like to spend money on things I don't use, but you could always pick something up secondhand which also has the potential to be more interesting.

Lots of possibilities. We have a similar nook (was a dining area) right off the living area … we have chairs, a china cabinet (for storage and pretties), lamp, rug, and small game table (we found a vintage end table and painted a chess/checkerboard grid on it).

A couple of chairs, table, lamp, etc, would work well. Or bookcase with chair and ottoman (seen on Pinterest):

Another idea is a chaise lounge area … chaise, bookcase, lamp, small table, rug, pillows, throw.

I have no idea of your decor style, budget, etc — that’s just a general idea of items. The bookcase would go on the right side wall and art on the other.

Lighting of some sort should be a priority, as it looks pretty dark. Floor lamp, hanging fixture, something.

I think it is good advice to live there awhile before deciding. Within a few months, you will probably realize that you need/would like a space for....whatever! Reading, games, a bar, play space (don't know if there are young kids), office/desk, storage, etc. Your new home will undoubtedly not automatically come with EVERYTHING that you would like...you can envision a new use for the space every time you walk by; in a short time you can figure out what YOU need, not what a photo on Houzz or the model home shows. I know it won't look complete for awhile, but figuring out its optimum use is a good idea, then think about style, accessories, etc.

People can still give suggestions, which the OP asked for, even if they’re not implemented right now. Ideas and inspiration to ponder.

You could use the space as a keeping room, a space to relax and keep the cook company or a place to read, play board games, etc. The keys are comfortable seating as an alternative to stiff stools or chairs and creating a cozy space.

I love your idea for a reading nook and especially how Jinx has their’s set up.

I came across this neat built-in idea, too. Just posting for fun, not for the OP’s room. In case anyone else is needing corner nook ideas — it’d be great for an upstairs loft area:

A foyer with foyer stuff? Console and mirror on one wall, art on the other. A bench w/ built in storage under, coat rack, baskets, umbtella stand, bookcase, desk etc etc.

I am loving that mood board Jinx created. I particularly love that tall cabinet with the rounded top. I think it’s important to introduce curves in decor because so much in a room is naturally a lot of straight lines.
