My bed is buzzing!!!!

What does it mean when your bed is buzzing??

For some of you it might; and in all likelihood does mean something different than mine! :-D

In my case, Elliott and I were making my bed and I heard buzzing. Okaaay.

Carefully turned back the fitted sheet that was already on the bed and there was a bee! He hitch-hiked in when I brought them in off the line.

My immediate thought was your electric toothbrush got mixed up in the sheets. Ok, maybe that wasn't my exact thought but let's pretend it was.

Jas, put a jar over him and then slip something like a sheet of stiff paper, cardboard, manilla file folder ofr plastic. Let her go free outdoors. Then hug yourself!

Bees are our beautiful friends ;-)

Fungus gnats are only interested in soil that is kept TOO moist so the odds are 10 to 1 that you are over-watering, keeping the soil too wet. Plants will "wilt" just as readily from too much watering as they will from too little since it causes root rot. So let the soil dry out and if the plants begin to wilt, wait. Give them at least 12 hours before watering and you'll likely find that they have perked up all on their own. From then on use the finger stick test to determine if they really need water of if you just "think" they do. ;) You don't indicate your zone or location in your posts - you really need to do that - so can't judge your weather demands but 90% of gardeners over-water their plants and fail to understand that plants can cope with too little water much better than they can with too much water. The honeybees here are in love with Mignonette. And we are having our fair share of sweat bees and bumblebees too. Apparently, they are doing what they are supposed to do, because I've got plenty of little tomatoes. And I expect to see more, as the Agastache is getting ready to bloom. It's definitely a welcome sight, seeing them all over the place this year.

You can get rid of the fungus gnat larvae by watering with water and insecticidal soap. It won't get rid of the adults but if you water a few times wioth it there won't be any more adults and what's there will soon die off. A fungus gnat is the size of a fruit fly--a bit smaller than a blackfly. They all look alike except for size. You often get them with potted plants(especially those bought in department or similar stores) or in unsterilized soil

Petalique, don't worry!!!! I picked him up in a t-shirt and set him free! I just didn't want to lay on it.

Good you could free it! We once had a swarm of bees inside the hood over the stove. The sound was driving me nuts, and I couldn’t figure it out. Then I noticed our cat staring up at the hood. I called an exterminator and the bees were gone when they got there.

Jas, better locate beeslee when she’s buzzing than after you are in bed.

I just went out to the gardens to look around. Picked a few of the remaining peppers. Glad that the heat has gone, but sad ;( to see the waning light and :”garden” (a disaster endeavor this year).

Behold! a bee in a tub of rainwater! I gave him a hand via a leaf and set him on the grass. He or she will be fine after drying out.

I was hopong for some more moderate autumn weather. 56 deg F her today. Huh?!

Does anyone remember ”Indian Summer?”

So far, Two Bees fe\reed today! Better than two bees dead, for sure. I am at least an ”Incrementalist!”

Indian summer comes after the first frost, as I understand it. And "we" have not had one yet, so there is still hope for an Indian summer! Keep the faith!

Ded, weren’t those advertised as ”magic fingers”? As a kid, seeing that on a motel sign (along with ”Cool Air! Color TV! Telephones!”) was so intriguing. Thinking about it just now, eww.
