Hi vivaceonbrio! It took me a year to decide on a final decision on the floor I wanted to install. I decided on a wood look Italian, rectified, wood look porcelain tile in a random pattern. Rectified means you can install 1/16" grout line and butt up closely to the next tile. The color is all the way through so if by small chance it is chipped, the color is below. I found this tile at Home Depot. It's wasn't that expensive but the installation can be pricey. I love the look of wood. but the durability of tile. We have a pool and wet feet friends, grandkids and naughty pets. Our new dog has accidents and it's easy to sterilize and clean up. We installed 1700 sq ft and a dust mop everywhere (except the kithen needs a more frequent mopping) usually keeps it looking nice. Each floor photo looks like a different color, but it's exactly the same tile. The lighting, and reflection makes it look different in each room. We love our new floor.

Fori, the width Schiene we need is 5/8" (it comes in varying heights -- you pick based on the height of your tile -- cement / encaustic / Cuban tends to be 5/8"), so ours actually will be similar to the blue tile photo. I just don't want it jarring (as it is here). Our tile man recommended the matte brass Schiene but it has too much reflection for me -- I LOVE this tile and that is all I want to see. Nothing shiny. Nothing detracting. Nothing distracting. You know how it is when you have a picture in your mind and That. Is. The. Goal. Jim Mat, love + appreciate the specifics! I joked with my husband that I just need to find a mustard nail polish and that would be great (plus I could apply a matte top coat), plus super-easy for touch-up with that wee brush. But I have 56' feet to paint so my joke got old, fast. Fingers crossed and when the weather warms up enough to paint I shall, and then after that I'll come back to update.

I’m midway into the total kitchen renovation Just how far along are you? If you're midway into the actual demo and construction, you should have the answers to most of your questions already. With the cabinets already ordered, I'd call off the work for now and wait until you have things figured out. Part of should be ensuring that the new kitchen works with the older house : ) . Also, since you have the cabinets ordered, does that mean you have your appliances decided upon/ordered? Including the Hallman range? Do you have a layout and/or elevations you can share with us? do I go with the brass Hallman range, the dark Farrow and Ball paint, the colorful CLE zellige tile You're correct about limiting the number of stars (or clowns, as some people say lol). Depending on what kind of cook you are (tidy or messy), and where you're planning to put the Zellige tile, Zellige tile might not be the best choice for a backsplash. That said, the backsplash is something you can leave until the end, and it's often best to wait so that you CAN see everything else in place. Do you have pictures of your selections?

KSC36, I agree there is nothing better looking than real cedar, but in 3 years it will either need to be re-sealed or be heading toward curling, bleaching, and rotting depending on what side of the buildings your on. The installation costs and maintenance for cedar on this summer camp is too much to take on. That cedar camp is beautiful though:) & I like the green trim with the natural wood- it’s really stunning! Beverly, I didn’t think to use board & batten in green and fake shake on top where you only see it from a distance- thanks!
