Wall tile size 13x26 too big for small bathroom?
Comments (7)I like the larger tile in the rectangle shape. I think it will make the tub area if not the whole bathroom look and feel more open & airy. DS1&2's baths have 9x18 tiles in a brick pattern and they look really nice. To add onto treasure's equation above...less grout lines = less potential for mildew/mold = less/easier cleaning....See MoreSmall Bathroom: What size tiles should I use?
Comments (14)I like the idea of a smaller tile on the floor so that the grout line provides added traction. The 2x2 trim, may be something you'd like on the walls but it might not lend itself to spacious open spaces. To me it will break up the space and make it look smaller, but I may be wrong. Have you gone to houzz yet as Babka suggested? There are millions and millions of bathroom pictures. Well maybe only 330,927, I just looked :) But there are so many, you will be able to narrow your search and find something that fits with what you have in mind and compare. I will post several: [Traditional Bathroom[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/traditional-bathroom-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_712~s_2107) by Chanhassen Design-Build Firms Knight Construction Design : Chanhassen, Minnesota [Contemporary Bathroom[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/contemporary-bathroom-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_712~s_2103) by San Francisco Architects & Designers Mike Connell [Contemporary Bathroom[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/contemporary-bathroom-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_712~s_2103) by Portland Interior Designers & Decorators Angela Todd Designs [Midcentury Bathroom[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/midcentury-modern-bathroom-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_712~s_2115) by Los Angeles Interior Designers & Decorators Susan Jay Design [Traditional Bathroom[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/traditional-bathroom-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_712~s_2107) by Saratoga Springs Architects & Designers Plum and Crimson Fine Interior Design [Traditional Bathroom[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/traditional-bathroom-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_712~s_2107) by Cherry Hill Tile, Stone & Countertops StoneMar Natural Stone Company LLC...See MoreSize of tile in small bathrooms, rule of thumb?
Comments (3)I've used large tile (12x12 and 16x16) in smaller bathrooms with similar color grout to help the space look / feel larger. I think if I'd used contrasting grout with the large tile, the bathroom would have looked smaller because then the room is chopped up visually with grout lines. Yet I also think very small patterns (basketweave, small hex, penny round, pinwheel, etc) work really well in small bathrooms. The small scale pattern looks more like a texture and your eye can't really count the grout lines like you could on a large format contrasting grout tile job....See MoreTile size for very small bathroom?
Comments (3)We nee a to scale floor plan and I like bigger tiles in small bathrooms but I need to know the size of the space and the layout. BTW a full gut job is IMO the best way to handle bathroom renos since if the surround needs replacing you need to rip all theat out anyway so good time to replace the tub with a soaker too. Where I live some of the new code is not needed to meet as long as the space stays the same and you are just replacing items....See Moredela115
