'rules' for staggered height cabinets?
Comments (10)It looks far better with a mix of open shelving, glass cabinets, and plain shorter doored cabinets in a skyscraper configuration rather than the yo-yo UPdownUPdonwUPdown shown above. Staggared depth is also a MUST for it to work at all or you get those silly crown returns that make it look amateur. It's not for a small kitchen, as it takes a lot of room to do successfully. It's also a look well past it's prime that didn't stick around that long to begin with. The dust issue is a big drawback with it, as is finding someone that can successfully plan something that works logistically and still looks a bit unfitted, which is what the look is attempting to recreate. Actual unfitted is a much better look that will never be dated. Cabinets to the ceiling would be more functional and be less dated....See MoreFloor tile pattern - straight or staggered?
Comments (6)Keep with the straight pattern. If you do staggered, you won't want to do half-offset with that size of tile or you're likely to experience lippage issues which looks bad, but can also be worse for tripping. Offset patterns with this size tile should be in 1/3s at the largest....See MoreStaggered square tile?
Comments (1)I think Running Bond is the tile pattern/layout you might be looking for. :-) It's commonly done with rectangular or brick-like tiles, but there's no reason it can't be done with squares. Hope that helps!...See MoreWhite cabinets or two tone? Staggered or Aligned?
Comments (7)I hope some kitchen designers pipe in to give you their valued opinion. I have 10 foot ceilings and did not go with stacked. I thought i was not going to have enough space for the top cabinets and they would look squatty. I trusted my KD and my GC. We thought it was not going to work in my space. But I sure love the look. Everyone is different. If you think it will look good and can fit in your space you will create a space you love. I think the idea of carrying the height all the way around to the vaulted side is good one. Do you have photos of this vaulted space? Stacked Cabinets in 8 foot ceiling discussion This ceiling height below is 10 feet. Vaulted on one side. But even the non vaulted side is very tall. I wish I knew what the height of this ceilings are. Lovely look of some stacked. 8 foot ceiling...See Moremillworkman
