Partial bathroom remodel: ideas needed
Comments (28)ORB will technically work with chrome, yes..speaking of your lighting the rest you'll see after you know your other choices. The hardware need to have smth similar..say you have a lot of round, softer lines(existing lights, trim)-so I'd pick it when choosing faucet too. Unless you want to get away from it-and then existing lighting might or might not work. In short, it's not only about finishes. I would try to keep to the current vintage vibe-easier..and is attractive enough, well at least to me. Checkerboard flooring might be cool..I'm just thinking aloud. now, thank you for mentioning your bathtub and toilet are ivory (lucky you..I like ivory)..yes, something to take in the account, definitely, but easier to work with than with the existing vinyl -vinyl is bossier. can you post a picture of gray vanity with white/gray countertop your daughter envisions? There are many shades to gray..some will be too cool and stark while others might work. Lilac gray. Green gray. If warm enough.. I like the idea of a nice woven shade..will slightly repeat ORB as well, since they share this vibe of warmth, you know?.. I like the idea of deep drawers that mayflowers suggested, perfect for towels. Well deep drawers are kinda great to have whenever....See MoreSmall bathroom remodel ideas for under $12K
Comments (10)A small bathroom isn't that much less expensive than a large bathroom because all of the expensive stuff basically costs the same in terms of labor. You save a bit on materials like tiles but that isn't the most expensive component of a bathroom remodel. Just the rough plumbing and fixtures for a shower is eye openingly expensive even if you stick to the least expensive adequate quality brand like Delta in a style and finish that is not "premium'. The shower is what is going to drive your costs up - probably above the $12,000 amount if you want a well constructed shower with a spa-like feel to replace the tub/shower. For most people that means a tiled shower and not one of those pre-fab showers. Waterproofing and tiling a shower correctly could easily eat up most of your budget. Depending on the age of your house, there will be plumbing and electrical stuff that is also expensive since licensed electricians and plumbers are among the most expensive to hire - that and well trained talented tile setters. Are you planning to sell in the relatively near future? If so, unless you are able to do a significant amount of work yourself, you are unlikely to make back your "investment" because the actual cost of your bathroom will not be recouped in most circumstances - e.g. unless you are able to remodel because you are DIY or in the business....See MoreHelp on Creative Bathroom Remodel Ideas!
Comments (6)Most likely the joists run parallel to the vanity wall it should allow the plumbing for the toilet to be moved so if that's the case it's doable, you have the room for a 33" vanity with a 15" sink base or to give extra room you can go with a 36" with a 12" base or 42" to give extra room for the toilet if needed....See MoreMaster Bathroom Remodeling Idea
Comments (13)Given both those changes, an experienced designer would be a good addition to the project. You can, however ask for design help here in a new thread. You must include a diagram of that area of the house that includes the neighboring rooms, has measurements for every wall, window, and door, and shows placement of electrical and plumbing. You will get a lot of ideas and suggestions. Are you keeping the bidet? Will you consider moving the toilet? What is below this bathroom (ie: basement, crawl space, lower floor of multi-storey home)?...See MoreAquaiaw Plumbing
