Trendy beach house kitchen ideas
Comments (3)I'd take a look at some glass mosiac tiles for the backsplash. The houzz link below has a blue glass mosiac backsplash. If you have a lot of backsplash and that would be too busy, maybe white subway tiles with some mosiac glass accents. Another option would be ship lap, which I think of as beachy, but I think that might be harder to keep clean. For countertop, I'd probably either go with laminate (pretty tough and cheap) or stainless steel (nearly indestructible). Either would be zero maintenance and not fussy about cleaners. How about shaker white cabinets? A farmhouse sink? A high gooseneck pull down faucet? Stainless steel appliances? Here is a link that might be useful: [Houzz kitchen with mosiac tile backsplash[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/white-and-wonderful-traditional-kitchen-new-york-phvw-vp~1613382)...See MoreDesign motifs, classic, trendy or dated?

He told the viewer to go out there and look at the good and bad and then choose to use what they love in their own home. Though he said there were no rules, I believe he meant we shouldn't worry about them, but to do what makes us happy. And yes, some homes will look fabulous and some will look like pooh, but if the people that live in them love them, then so be it. We worry too much about what others think. What should matter most is to enjoy living in our homes, not worrying about what others perceive our homes should look like. Others don't live there. Decorating a home, like how we dress or wear our hair, is truly personal. If we have to worry all the time about whether or not it's pleasing to others then we lose our creativity, the freedom to do what we love. In my book that's sad. If you think about it, if everyone followed that line of thinking, wouldn't the world be a terribly boring place? Everything would be uniform looking, (and I don't think even those with OCD like myself would be totally happy) music would all sound the same, all artist would paint what things literally looked like. The TV movie The Stepford Wives come to mind. The rule enforcers are the men in this movie. They have an idea of what is right and expect the women (those that like freedom to be themselves) to follow their rules, no matter what. Sorry to everyone that didn't care for what Angelo said, but I think he's right in giving everyone freedom of choice to do what makes them sing, be joyful and love their surroundings. I do very much agree with your comment that good design is not the same thing as trendy design. Never has, never will be in my opinion. cawaps, like anything, rules can help one do anything better than without them. Rules are somewhat like instructions for putting something together. When written well they help and I believe most design "rule" are well thought out. My hubby can attest to my being big on following instructions, having often said to him "If all else fails, read the instructions." Which in the case of decorating ones home can help too. But they shouldn't keep someone from trying or even using something they personally like that doesn't follow the rules. I think Angelo's point was more about being fearless in doing what you love. To be creative. I'm sure the way he worded it gave quite a few other designers a lot to talk about. I have to admit I take after my Mom in just knowing what is pleasing to most. But we have to remember that not everything pleases everyone. What one person thinks of as beautiful another may think is ugly. Discernment is in the eye of the beholder. Comments (6)How hard does the bath get used? Kids, or just the occasional guest? Marble is beautiful and timeless but you don't want to get fingernail polish or harsh cleaners or such on it. It'll need sealing every so often, depending on how much the room is used. Are you okay with that? It's a beautiful tile....See MoreWhich is more timeless?
Comments (29)How do these inspiration pictures compare to the actual space you want to remodel? That may make a difference in what I think. Honestly, I like both spaces, but I probably prefer the turquoise a little more. Im not certain which option is more timeless, These are both clean, fresh looks -- and neither is trendy, which is a positive. Trendy will go out of style, but these are more unique, not something that'll scream 2022 in a couple years. White subway Ugh. Is anything in decorating as overplayed as dull-as-dirt white subway tile? Oh, yes, the term "spa-like". So many other descriptors exist! Calm, organic, natural, clean, open, restful, a retreat, pampering, light-filled, zen, relaxing, plush, soft, simple, indulgent -- nope, we have to keep rolling back to spa-like. Rant over. Here are a few more: I love the Zellige turquoise but fireclay tile also has beautiful handmade tiles — I would take a look at them as well. I love handmade-looking tiles -- that second picture is really appealing. I agree with cpartist that I would just do the whole shower in one tile — no accent walls or niches. I think doing one tile is more “classic”. No, you've gotta have some storage space IN the shower, so niches, ledges, whatever -- they are necessary. In a perfect world you'd have a pony wall and could hide your storage behind that. Also, install more storage than you think you need ... or embrace bottles on the shower floor. While we're talking about practical ideas, don't forget to plan a space for your towel bars ... we're talking about a bathroom that looks good, but a bathroom that WORKS is even more important. doesn't mean they know how to properly WATERPROOF a shower. On the subject of waterproofing, consider adding grab bars to your shower while it's being built -- if you need to add them later, you can damage the waterproofing /risk mold behind your tiles. Maybe you don't need grab bars now, but having them couldn't hurt. You can buy attractive grab bars that don't look like they belong in a nursing home. The tub is blue and has steep steps to get into it. It’s an accident waiting to happen. Oh, yeah. I've used that tub in a hotel. Putting aside the color, it takes forever to fill and isn't all that comfortable....See Morejjb 61
