Expanding dinning table - Round to Oval

I am searching high and low for a nice round table that pulls apart and expands into a nice big oval table. I cannot find many options. Can anyone find one? Looking to seat 6 around the round table and 10 around the expanded oval.

I am currently refinishing a 60" round Nichols & Stone pedestal table that has an 18" leaf.

You could check Facebook Marketplace for high quality dining tables.

It may or may not need to be refinished. Lots of options for new dining chairs, depending on your style.

(IIRC, I paid $150 for the table.)

My sister just bought one last week. She went to about 4 local furniture stores and they all had round tables with a leaf. They did not have them in stock and the wait for most furniture is a few months. She was able to find different leg configurations, different finishes and different sizes.

If you are looking for new, you may need to order and be patient.

Agree to avoid the glass. They make table covers that look like the table-top and are custom-fit inside with felt lining to keep the surface like new. Also heat-resistant up to 500 degrees. Ask about one of these products when you are shopping for your table. A 54" table is usually sold with 6 chairs. Another consideration would be a 48" table that leafs out into an oval. It's standard for 48" tables to come with only 4 chairs but the store should be able to order another pair for you. If I were doing this, I would have them agree in writing that the 2 new chairs have to match the other 4. Sometimes there can be color variations in different "batches." Another difficulty with trying to permanently use a 48" table with 5 chairs is that the 5th chair needs a home. It won't fit under the table.

We have one made by Canadel. You can pick your stain/paint color, leg style, and edge style of the table top. http://www.canadel.ca/ We are very happy with it, except it is very hard to find large enough tablecloths (need a 90" round, and I have yet to find a large enough oval, so have to live with them being to short on the sides). I can't remember how much we paid for it, as we bought an entire set with 8 chairs and a buffet/china cabinet all at the same time.

Purchase a canvas mounted on a frame the size G recomended. Using the colors of your theme figure aka incl leftover paint you may have, design a motif including your birthdates and family Initial(s) or other key dates or words like Family and Home among them if you like. You can include a freestyle forms like circles and stars or just do the shapes as a background to your family initial in Gold or Silver metallic? You may know an art teacher or student that could do this for you if that makes it more appealing to you?

“I would get one that expands to an oval whaen you need more seating.” ”great idea to expand to oval.” I just wanted to tell you my experience with an expandable kitchen table. I do not recommend it. I ended up never once expanding the table. The leaf has to be stored somewhere, and takes up a ton of room for something that’s never used. And the worst is the ever-present seam in the table. So, you have a line down the center of your table at all times, and it does catch crumbs and grime, even though it’s a tight seam. I wish all the time I’d gotten a table without the leaf.

We refinished a round oak pedestal table that had lost its leaf, so ordered a 12” wide oak plank cut to size, finished it to match the table and drilled holes so the existing pegs would fit in, Window hardware on the underside holds table together. It is 48” in diameter as a round table, 48” x 60” as an oval. We could seat 6 -8 at the most when expanded, so to seat 10 you would need an additional 12” leaf as well. You would also need to make sure you have good support on each end. Chair size matters, too. Happy hunting.

Thank you all for replying. I should have said I have a modern taste and am not looking to restore any antique furniture. The sizes I am looking for are also larger than what I am seeing in the antique tables. Thank you again though. The search continues.

Room and board has a couple of options though the styles are on the less modern looking side to me.

IMO this is a more traditional look so probably why you are have issues finding many.

If looking for used and wanted more modern I would be searching for the key words teak or MCM.

If looking for new I would be going to a higher end furniture store that sells more modern furniture and ask them what they have available that you can order.

With a 60" round table you need a fairly sizable base to support the top, so there won't be any with truly streamline bases.
