Exterior shiplap: can I tape seams before bricking?

We have a 1920s tudor that's in process of a partial remodel. Included in the scope is moving some windows. Since we have the brick removed in these areas, the old shiplap is exposed. I wanted to see if there are informed opinions on whether I can seal the shiplap seams in order to get the house "tighter" from an air intrusion perspective.

Can I apply flashing tape, or caulk (or both) with no ill effects down the road? Thoughts?

Thanks,

Ryan
