Not a pro, but this would be cramped and awkward and with the oven where it is, I think dangerous. You wouldn't have enough space to safely stand in front of the oven when it's open. Why not push this thing all the way over to the piece of wall between your two doorways and make it a normal bank of cabinets?

I'd push it against the wall as denkyem recommended, but I'd make it a rolling cart or table. It really is useful to have some work space you can bring over to have opposite the range. But you do not have enough room to make that a permanent installation.

How are you going to stand and open your oven or freezer drawer? this looks really uncomfortable. how does this island benefit you? if you put it against the wall you have room for uppers, a mw, etc on the wall.

You may want to consider a smaller, freestanding piece similar to this photo. It allows more floor to show and will make the kitchen feel less cramped.

What about a peninsula instead? We can't see the rest of the space, but a peninsula may be a better arrangement, and still give you the added cabinetry, counter, and perhaps seating.

I am usually okay with dimensions toward the smaller end of the spectrum because I live in a city of Small houses, but I don't think you'd be happy with 34" in the range aisle. PLUS unless you get a $6000-10,000 True Counter Depth built in refrigerator, you are going to end up with 29-30 in front of even a "counterdepth" fridge our about 25 in front of a conventional depth fridge.

There are plenty of oven doors here that open in to small aisles and you get used to it. (Not that I recommend it) but a fridge really impinging on an already smallish aisle is a real pain.

When I was planning my island, I had my heart set on a certain size. I brought in one of my white, plastic folding tables and set it in the space. You could also use movers wardrobe boxes to set up a pretend island. Work in your kitchen for a week and you will have a better idea of the space.

I agree with pushing it against the wall. If you do this, you can do more. Make it 48" wide with 2 seats at the end. That is still cleanable. Mainly from the ends for the wall area. Just a little inconvenient in the center.

Agree the island makes stove/fridge isle way too tight. The peninsula idea would be better. Dish drawers next to and across from DW would be great. Peninsula would also be a great landing zone directly across from the french door fridge.

I have a very small kitchen, and it's not for everyone, but I use a mobile workbench as an island and have about 36" of clearance to my appliance wall. I love it because it basically doubled (maybe tripled) the storage in my kitchen. Either way, I would definitely recommend a non-fixed island, for one if you are getting inspected, they don't count on code, and for 2, if you need to replace those appliances you may find it difficult to maneuver around. We love it enough that we are designing our kitchen renovation around it (but we don't mind the industrial look.) ETA this is 25x52, there are all kinds of sizes. You can get 18" depth at Harbor Freight, and there are multiple configurations as far as drawers/ doors/open space. I like having an open top work space, our reno will put full-length shallow pantry on the wall where the vent is in this photo.

But it is so true that not every kitchen can fit an island. Although I understand wanting one. They can be a great feature. But, I would definitely give up my dream island, if it meant cramped working isle space.

I like the rolling movable cart idea, but I think in your kitchen I would prefer having more fixed cabinet storage and a couple extra seats. Just make sure there’s enough space in front of the fridge to use comfortably. As suggested, mock it up with tables or boxes.

Do you plan for uppers or open shelves?

if the gray lines on the floor are walls why dont you take the lower one between the openings and construct a cute hutch from cabinetry. include glass doors and some counter within. you dont even need to use the whole number of feet there.....assume there is a table at the open end of your space you dont want a pinch point I guess. Or just keep it 15 inches deep. a coffee/toaster set up there could help . For function , against the wall with an outlet and room for people to maneuver would be better long term

I have a movable island that seats 2 built from a cabinet. I find it more versatile than a stationary island.

With only 94" to place an island in a 120" wide kitchen, even a standard 26" single cabinet with overhang would leave you with only 34" aisles. In front of the fridge, where you need the most room, would only have 22"-28", depending on if you chose counter depth, or full depth. If the fridge could get pushed down, well beyond the island, where it wouldn't be pinched by it, then maybe a movable cart that is 18"-24" deep could work. But nothing permanently affixed.

What are your goals for the island? You have a great prep space between the sink and range; if you move the range a bit to the left you'll have a landing spot next to the fridge.

The kitchen in my last house was a 10' wide U shape. You have the advantage of an opening by the DW, so you aren't dealing with 2 corners. I would absolutely put cabinets on the blank wall. Or use Rebunky's idea, if you feel the need for island seating and less storage.

I was thinking on an Island because I love to have a lot of prep space in front of the stove so I doesn'thave to move to much. But you are right, the dimensions doesn't help so I will consider the peninsula idea. Thanks.
