What color should I paint my kitchen cabinets?

If my walls, trim and ceiling in the kitchen are SW alabaster white & i want to stick with a white cozy farmhouse feel, what color white shhould i paint my cabinets? More Alabaster? My floors will be naturally stained white oak.

I love the inspiration pictures. I actually had my contractor match the paint color of my white cabinets for all my trim because I have wood base cabinets too. I have neutral paint colors on my walls so it all looks great. I didn't want to have different shades of white either so I agree with painting your cabinets your trim color.

Why don't you consider a nice green color with a bit of a glaze for your cabinets? I did the cream with heavy glaze in my kitchen (your top link is my kitchen!) and I love them, but I never considered any other color and now that I've seen some green glazed cabinets - I think about redoing my island in green!!! (Its black now with the perimeter in glazed cream.) Green cabs would stand out nicely against your walls. There is a forum member here named Teppy and I'm attaching a link to her photobucket. She has a some inspiration photos on there with distressed green islands and they are gorgeous, as well as her own green island. Les is right. Our house is an 11 year old Lennar spec home. Although the house was not built well, the cabinets are in very good shape and we're only planning on staying here another 7 years. We are going to build our next house so we can make sure it really has everything we want. I don't want to change the complete look of my kitchen because I want it to flow with the rest of the house. I originally wanted white cabinets but when he came into the house he looked at my kitchen and said he would paint them oatmeal with a glaze. I didn't and still don't know what that color is and what it will look like. I order every piece of free literature on houses for my design book when we build so I know what I want going in. I just happened to be looking at the catalog and saw oatmeal glaze and I don't know that I like it with the colors I have in my kitchen. I searched for oatmeal cabinet colors last night on the forum just so I have an idea of what it is going to look like but I didn't have any luck. If anyone has cabinets that are painted oatmeal with glazing, may I see a picture please?

If you throw out off whites that are yellow and red-based, you will be left with taupes, putties, and beiges. Tertiary off-whites. (assuming you don't want a blue or green based off white) Casey

That sounds like too much white so my first thought is gray or greige.

SW Pure White. Alabaster is a little yellower than Pure White.

My house is a new build, so I dont have a kitchen yet to post pictures. The cabinets are being built and they are asking for a paint color. The plan is to have some natural wood for my hood and for the base of my island.

I would have picked natural wood for the cabinets too. They are timeless and require a lot less maintenance

Those wood cabinets that you just posted are gorgeous. That wood is beautiful. If those are the cabinets you are getting, please, do not paint them.

My trim and ceilings are SW Pure white. I have stained wood lowers and SW Pure white uppers. My walls are a very light gray though so that gives a bit more depth (Drift of Mist). In your case I would probably use SW alabaster on the cabinets as well unless you want the cabinets to look WHITE and the walls and trim to look creamy/slightly yellow. Personally I don't think I'd like the contrast.
