Need Advice: how edge Soapstone for fire hearth that isn’t flush

building2017
last year

This is a renovation and not a new build so we weren’t able to drop the floor to make this transition flush. Our new hardwoods are not as high/deep as a new Soapstone slab going in the floor for the new wood-burning fireplace. The Soapstone distributor recommended not going less than 2 cm in depth for the slab. How have people handled this difference before where the stone hearth flat on ground will be higher than the wood floor? What type of edging did you choose or is there another fix we can’t think of? Appreciate any pics you have too. Thanks!
