Comments (3)When you say 'natural walnut', do you mean it will be a darker finish than what you have now? I'm trying to envision what finish/color you will have. Not much help as I happen to love stone and I think it will be a huge pain to remove all that stone and replace it with the limestone, although it will be beautiful. You could remove the stone mantel and replace it with a painted or stained wood mantel though. And I'm not even sure I'd want the limestone to go all the way up. Rustic stone, yes; limestone I'm not so sure. Have you looked at Houzz for some inspiration photos? I'd not do the rounded feature on the top shelf but I'd leave the crown molding and the open top for display of larger items on top. You could also change the doors and hardware to something more contemporary/traditional to suit....See MoreNeed help for fireplace and TV design
Comments (11)I think you can still do it. If you look at the 2nd picture I posted above, you'll see that the fp is actually recessed into the surrounding bookshelves. So you can make the shelves on the right side, say (sorry I don't know metric) 10" deep and the ones on the right 18" deep. The fronts will line up and look even. You'd want something deeper where the tv and components go anyway as they tend to be deeper and need more air circulation to dissipate heat. You'd just have to watch code in your area for how close combustible materials can be to the fire box. Most likely this would need to be done custom. I know fireplaces look very permanent, but one thing I've learned in my years of looking at remodels is, there's a boat load more flexibility in fireplace surrounds than you think. Comments (8)It depends how you want to use the space. Two tall bookshelves would be great if you have books and objects to style with. If you entertain frequently, a bar cart on one side with a low bookcase on the other would be fun! You can add art or mirrors above. See below for inspiration images. Good luck!...See MoreNeed a design solution for having the fireplace and TV on same wall.
