I love your leopard print idea; I think you should fly with it. At the end of the day, it's a bunch of neutral colors (that tie in nicely with the yellow you're stuck with), so use it as your starting point. If it were me, I'd paint the vanity a very dark espresso brown (I think going cream or ivory might be too much contrast). I'd go a bit lighter but still dramatic -- say a milk chocolate -- on the walls. Then I'd pick a flooring out of that same palette; not knowing your budget, I don't know what material would work, but anything from hardwood to cork tiles, to ceramic or porcelain tile, to vinyl would be fine, as long as the color ties together with the others. For accessories, pick some jungle-inspired greens, like palm tree prints and embroidered hand towels. Also, an amber glass soap dish or dispenser, and/or amber glass shades on the lights, would look great. Makes me want attach my powder room now...

Bigger is better because of what is held below and because the space on the sides would be completely wasted otherwise. Make sure you measure your sink to get the depth of it. Of course, you could put the faucet off to the side as well if you get a wide vanity. Our vessel's faucet is off in the back "corner" (an oval sink). I did not want it in the middle because there was more room for it when it was offset. A round sink would be even more pronounced. I also like the look of it set off the center. OTOH, dh came home the day it was installed and hated it, yet does not seem to care now (a few months later). In fact, he never really mentioned it again. He was surprised/disappointed I chose that location yet usually tells me to do what I want, so he could not argue the point much since it was already done. It did not occur to him that there was any other choice but midpoint.

So much great advice (and no judgement - thank you!) — I wanted to update, we’ve confirmed it’s only shellac! Thankfully, and we’ll be working on removing as much as possible tomorrow, with heat off and windows open. Pics below, including my husband cleaning his mess lol. Great tips on the floor - you’re points are right on, and given the work the walls will be I’d like an easier alternative for the floors for sure. The left window is actually a door that a previous owner caulked shut, but we’re planning to open and make functional again. Otherwise there isn’t much room for anything, but it would be ideal to move the sink elsewhere to have more wiggle room in the “bathroom”. We did take a quick look today at more narrow utility sink/ vanity combos, and while not perfect should be an improvement. At this point it feels that is still quite far in the future, but hopeful the shellac removal is quicker than I anticipate. I like the color! What style is the rest of your home? Depending on the rest of your home, I might do something to the vanity, if not replacing. I also suggest changing the counter. If budget allows, do a pretty stone with an undermount sink with the new faucet. Most fabricators have scraps that could easily do a powder room, and discounted psf from regular slab prices. I like to buy antique/vintage mirrors for bathrooms or have mirrors made at our local frame shop. I also hang nice art. These rooms have so little in them, it is better to go outside the box and add character. For examples, here is a close up of our master bathroom mirrors (frame shop).
