NIce! Did you hide a walk-in pantry behind the doors next to the oven as you'd planned? What is your backsplash? If it's not the same as the drawer fronts, it's a very close match. I would never have thought of doing that but it suits your kitchen well. Congrats! I hope you enjoy your kitchen for many, many years!

I'd rather have the higher lumens -- that's like the difference between a 40W and a 60W bulb, and three of the latter feels like it will be better in a kitchen.

I would leave the fridge where it's drawn, so that it is more convenient to the dining room, living areas, and bedrooms, but I'd make sure there is at least 36" between the corner of the fridge and the base cabinet on the end of the range run. I live in an old house with narrow aisles, and a 36" deep island, so I think yours can work. If you can widen the DR door and center the seating on the opening, it won't be ideal, but it will work. Use backless stools that can be tucked under the overhang when no one is seated. The island has been changed to ap 9', with no plumbing; DW is next to sink, with dish storage in the island, and the two do not overlap. Trash is between sink and range, in primary prep space. A helper can unload the DW while you are prepping and cooking, or help prep at the end of the island. I do all my baking prep on the 36" side of my island, which faces the china cabinet in my DR (a nice view). I omitted the appliance garage in favor of counter space, but small appliances can be kept in deep drawers--maybe beside the dish drawers.

I agree with Ephma. There are a lot of great contractors out there who do great work, But I have heard some crazy design or color ideas from contractors that would of looked bad if done. On the other side, I have heard some great design ideas from contractors that I adopted into a project. Gather advice from several sources, then google search the suggestions to try to find photos to see what it could look like. Trust your taste & intuition on what YOU think will look best in YOUR space. Everyone has an opinion, what matters in YOUR home is YOUR Opinion. ;)
