Desert Perennial Flower Garden Using Lewisia, Kalanchoe blossfeldiana?

In the center of a hidden garden, I have a stone circle where I want flowers. I want to plant desert flowers that are evergreen and bloom for long cycles during the Spring through early Fall. Two candidates for this area are Lewisia "Bitterroot" and Kalanchoe blossfeldiana, both of which produce lots of small colorful flowers for extended periods. In my zone 9b weather, they should stay evergreen.

What are some other species I could consider for this area that have a similar habit and also endure a poorer well-drained soil?
