I really want to try these but I just don't think they are "green" enough. Sun & Earth makes all natural dryer sheets that are biodegradable in less than 30 days!! They are available in unscented and orange. I tried the orange and though they smelled wonderful in the box, no scent was left on my clothing. They seemed to work ok for static but I didn't notice any extra softness. My favorite solution is Ecos laundry detergent because it has a built in soy based fabric softener. My clothes come out of the dryer fresh and soft without my needing to add a liquid fabric softener or dryer sheets! This is more economical for me and better for the environment. I really like the Magnolia & Lilly scented Ecos detergent. It has a super light, fresh scent that is just slightly detectable when my clothes come out of the dryer. It's perfect for my whole family's sensitive skin.

I agree almost 100% with Sshrivastava!! Many of us (me included) use hair conditioner everyday! I seriously could not get a comb thru my thin, delciate and heavily processed hair, if I did not alternate with cream rinses, conditioners and gooey protein packs!! Some being animal fat based, some being plant based! When I had my last Miele W & D set installed, I spoke a lot with the Miele tech about what products I use. He of course liked that I mainly use Persil, but said my German Ariel Powder was equally as good. He said the machines have been HEAVILY tested with both powder and liquid detergents, and BOTH are 100% fine (although some cycles require liquid detergent...comforters, express, denim...). In regards to liquid fabric softener, he said not only is it fine, Miele actually recommends it!! Liquid Fabric softener, as Sshrivastava said, makes our clothes softer, more manageable and really does help the fibers lay better, and reduces wear and tear on our clothes. The Miele tech said, that as long as you rinse the fabric softener dispenser and siphon valve with HOT water when done with the machine...there is NO worry about buildup in the drum, lines, seals or hoses. He said, that just does NOT happen. Build up, mold, mildew due to fabric softener occurs when people do not keep the soap tray clean and do not leave the main door to the washer open to breathe and dry out!!! In regards to "natural" plant based detergents and softeners...Miele DOES NOT recommended them at all. The tech said the "natural" products, especially being plant based actually do gum up the machines. When using warmer temps, especially Extra White and Sanitize...the plant based detergents and softeners change on the molecular level, and become somewhat sticky! Miele says no to plant based products, and especially NO to dryer sheets (plant based or conventional). Miele recommends Persil Powder or Persil Liquid (gel), Miele Care Collection, Tide he Powder, Tide he Liquid, and many other German detergents.

Kathy, You can officially keep using what you were already using. No changes needed if the Kirkland products were cleaning fine in your previous TL. The Kirkland detergents don't have the same quantity of enzymes, etc as something like Tide but they are generally clean rinsing and fine for average dirt laundry. As for OxiClean, as stated before, if you're using liquid detergent, put the OxiClean in the drum to avoid a clump in the dispenser. If you're using all powder in the dispenser, doesn't matter. I'm a mixologist when it comes to laundry detergent. :D But I have the Kirkland products on my shelf. I also have the Kirkland powder. :D I use them all in my Maytag FL (w/ Sanitary cycle).

Hi gurus! I have an electrolux 60 model. When I say 1.5 hours, its the Mixed Load on Air Fluff/Line Dry. No heat, right? I was getting rough towels when i did the normal or heavy duty cycles, which is what I meant by Shake and Bake! ;-). I just feel the long and low cycles gently dry my clothes and everything. Everything comes out so soft, so I am afraid to go back to the normal cycles ;-) . I dont know what a non-vented condenser dryer is, mine has a flexible foil pipe venting to the outdoors - your standard dryer set-up, I think! I know you think I am crazy at this point :-) (I am not, I assure you!) but I was intrigued by some of your comments and am having fun learning from all of you!!
