Need help remodeling my Master bath
Comments (7)I really like your laundry room! Thanks for the clarification on the use and layout. You can focus more of your budget on the fun stuff if you're ok with not relocating everything. Replacing the vanities could potentially give you much more storage as there is a lot of open space under the sinks. I assume they are ADA compliant. If you need that can you do with just one of the sinks as compliant and then use the rest of the vanity as drawers/doors for storage? If you can do without it all together then you could either do a super long double vanity or two separate ones with a linen tower in between. I agree you could go with a free standing tub. Replace the glass bricks with a different window (or windows) as long as you will still have some privacy. You might have to move the tub down a bit towards the corner. Then you could take down the wall between the tub and shower and put in a frameless glass shower, maybe splurge a bit on the tiles as they will be more visible without the wall. If you want to carry the pretty wood floor right into the bathroom take a look at Calacatta. It looks so nice with the red/brown of the floor. Comments (12)I have a master bathroom that is somewhere around 12' long by less than 5' wide. It is layed out almost exactly as yillimuh's with the exception of the door being placed on the long end opposite the shower. The bathroom is from the 1970s and in need of remodeling (bright blue sink and toilet, falling apart tile shower, white painted falling apart vanity, falling apart orange plastic shower door), so I have no pictures to share. The layout is very functional for us. My significant other and I can easily get ready in the bathroom together. We do have to do a bit of squeezing by at the door if I'm doing something like drying my hair (I have the far end sink by the door) when he wants to enter or exit. And a shower door opening by the toilet will be a little tight (right now we have some hideous accordion style orange plastic disaster from the 1970s). In my remodel (sometime in the near future) I will be doing most everything in white to make the space feel larger. I will be using Daltile Navelli Carrera Star 12"x12" tiles (already purchased) and white toilet and sink. I hope to have a white vanity (similar to RH's Hutton vanities) custom made for me since the space does not fit the vanities I love. I hope to do clear frameless glass shower doors. The space does have a nice large window, though it faces the street so the shades are never open....See MoreRemodeling kitchen w/o a clue about appliances
Comments (10)Wolf DF304 ~$6k Wolf steam oven ~$3.8k Bosch 500-800 DW $800-$1500 depending on specific model. SZ 36" ~$9k Zephyr ~ $600-$1200 A few of the Veteran posters here on GW have stated that Wolf has not fixed it's blue enamel problem and do not recommend their ovens. Wekick has had problems with three ovens/ranges but his last problem was with a range that was 4.5 years old .AFAIK Wolf fixed this at least 3 years ago but FYI. In any event I think the Wolf is way overpriced for what you get. I don't like getting a suite of appliances for a promo discount you can almost always do better buying separate appliances. I would get a specific price quote with specific appliances then we(the collective we at GW) can maker a counter recommendation. Because the appliances listed sound way way more than $12k....See MoreI am remodeling a master bath and need help with wet room tile.
Comments (5)Lisa just a word of caution. Glass tile in a wet area has many risks. Don't assume your installer is qualified for glass installations. Special setting techniques are needed. Get the installation instructions directly from the manufacturer and make sure it's followed. Most require special mortar while some require mastic which can't be used in a wet area. Some glass can be installed over a impervious waterproof membrane while others no. Some Ok with epoxy grout others not. Be sure the glass can withstand the thermal shock from being cold to being hit with hot water. Research glass tile ghosting. Best of luck with your project....See MoreHU-731177731
