Need ideas for small apartment living room.
Comments (6)First, it would be a little easier to make suggestions if we had more pictures--what's opposite the window wall, what does the couch wall look like? What do you want to be able to do in this room? Watch TV looks like a given, but what else? Entertain friends, read, surf the net (on what, desktop, laptop, tablet?), play video games, listen to music, eat snacks, eat meals, do hobbies or crafts? Do you need a home office space? More storage? Does that wall back onto your bedroom, or the neighboring apartment? Off the top of my head, how about a sleek Mid Century Modern credenza? Put the TV on top and then you have tons more storage inside. Or a new, larger TV stand, flanked by bookcases. Gives you a place for all the electronics associated with the TV, plus more storage. Or a nice, new TV stand, plus a desk, bookcase and file cabinet for a home office. If you are really short on storage space in your apartment, I'm a big fan of the great wall o' storage. Look into bookcases that come with optional doors, and put three or four of them along that wall. The Ikea Billy system is one example. Add some doors to hide some of your stuff, so you don't have to be super neat all the time. Use bins or boxes to hold other stuff--bookcases are not just for books. The Ikea Expedit is another option--comes in a variety of sizes and shapes, so you could easily work the TV into the design, and has doors and drawers that fit into the cubbies to make them more useful. It's going to be difficult to fill that entire wall up with art or a mural. You need a little bit of furniture on that side of the room, so that the room looks more balanced. When it comes to artwork, I'm in the school of "live with the blank wall until you find something you love." But not everyone else is. I'd check out Apartment Therapy for some cool ideas on DIY art. I've see chalkboard walls, plywood art, all sorts of things that might spark your imagination....See MoreNeed some help with Living Room & Kitchen area in new apartment
Comments (5)Have you looked at Article? do you like this combo? I just recently got the black leather Sven sofa and that exact chair for my room. I love them! I also got the Sven leather bench/coffee table. prices are very reasonable. Then find the accessories. bring in some art or a rug w/color. I really loved the sven in the blue. this would look great w/your floor and cream wall color. (it is cream, right, and not the yellow in the picture?) Here's how the Sven sofa, bench/chair look: The pouf was from Amazon,,,the Tables and MCM credenza I've had and refinished myself. Rug I had, but I want to get something lighter. If you don't like the mcm style, they do have some others look at the Sven Birch Ivory Sofa. it's on sale! https://www.article.com I don't know know what your style is, but here's a sample mockup for the nook...I like the idea of the bench against the wall diff pendant. table ideas, and a darker chair...See MoreNeed advice, ideas and tips on how to design my living room
Comments (0)Hello everyone, I just recently moved into my apartment and currently only have some furniture from my old flat, which I dont really like. Therefore I am currently trying to think of how I want to redesign it and buy all the furniture over the next few monts. Unfortunately I have no real sense of what looks good together, what details to look out for and how to match colors. I am trying to keep it simple and modern. So far I have tried to design it with an online room planer (see link below), since I just cant imagine how a piece of furniture would look like in real life... Link to current Situation (Design Dilemma) & Future https://imgur.com/a/RA9fmIG Some things I want to mention: The couch in this simulator, I already have, I will get it from my sister since she is getting a new one. I will also keep my desk, everything else will be replaced (TV-Stand, Cupboards, etc.) Overall I like it how it looks so far although there are a few issues: Rug. I really like the rug but am not able to find it anywhere. What rug would you recommend? TV-Stand: I am not the biggest fan of this lightgrey TV-Stand. I was thinking about a lowboard that has a dark brown frame and a little white to it. Something like this: https://www.beliani.at/tv-stand-light-wood-with-white-eerie.html Also should I add something else instead of the cupboard with the books above the cupboard to decorate the wall? Big wall art: I don't have a big wallart for the wall yet, this one is just temporary and I'm sorry that it is not centered ;-) Cupboard below the Art: Does a cupboard fit there? I will have one cupboard next to the desk and I really need some storage space. Any recommendations? It just looks really clumped. What else could I do with this space? Without anything there it looks empty Any other help, ideas, tips are really appreciated. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!...See MoreNeed help completing living room design for small apartment
