Comments (2)Looked into Merillat and found that they are kinda pricey. Thomasville is a little bit more affordable than Kraftmaid on certain door styles/finishes. We are going with a brand called Schrock through Menards. Schrock is made by the same company as Thomasville at Home Depot. It is also a couple thousand dollars less expensive for the same product. The manufacturer makes all the same cabinets and puts a different sticker on the box and sends them to different stores. I know Lowes carries a brand also and they are the most expensive ones out there. Schrock might seem cheap because they are at Menards but they have a ton of custom options and upgrades to make your kitchen more custom for a lot less cost. Plus on top of the low price Menards also has the 14% on cabinets running at least once every 2 months plus a free sink base. I have done my homework on the Schrock brand and you can get a really nice door style/wood for about $110-$140 per linear foot. Hope this helps! Oh one more thing - my Merillat estimate was $12K and my Schrock was $7K and I'm getting everything I want too!!...See MoreMerillat Cabinets
Comments (11)My Merillat cabinets fell off the wall. Literally. Our house was built in 1999. We bought it and moved in August 2009 (after previous owner). In June 2010, while outside with my dogs I heard a huge crash. Went inside and 95" of wall cabinets were on the floor mangled, the contents all smashed. The backs of the cabinets were still on the wall (tightly fastened). The boxes of the cabinets separated from the backs and came crashing down. I contacted Merillat. The cabinets were, of course, out of warranty. They offered to replace the 4 cabinets that fell (I'm not sure with what, since they didn't make that design any longer), but they wouldn't install - just give us 4 new wall cabinets. My insurance company offered to replace our entire kitchen (since matching cabinets couldn't be purchased, and our hardwood floors were damaged by the falling cabinets). Needless to say, we went with the insurance company replacement and did not replace with Merillat....See MoreMerillat classic cabinet
Comments (59)@Mavis Jones Our builder contracted with the local Reico office. I'll start out with something I'm sure you will already know, and most likely agree with, that every Reico office is different (staff, experience, expertise). I didn't find our Reico designer to be helpful in choosing options, but I came to the appointment ready to roll (our builder provided all the options prior to the appointment). I came in thinking I would go with Ralston or Tolani until she pulled out a new option the builder added to the list, Glenrock. I went with that and love them (in Kona stain). My husband pulled out all the countertop options and narrowed them down and I made the final decision. The designer was helpful only in ticking off all her boxes for the builder. But that's just me as a customer, other customers she'd provide more guidance. I like the cabinets a lot. I've had better cabinets in a previous home but I like these. I chose a recessed design and the inset sounds like MDF (in my previous house they were all wood, including the inset), but I don't go around tapping on the inset so it doesn't matter to me. It seems like the finish on these is more prone to scratches so someday I'll get around to filling them in with the stain pens they provided. They're easy to clean with water and vinegar. The stain color is consistent throughout the product. These pics were before we moved in so there's some building/construction dust still on them....See MoreMerillat (maybe) design application
