how to decorate porch on our new house for christmas? (pictures)
Comments (24)Hi everyone! Sorry for the delayed response--been very busy with work. I do agree with needing to raise the tree up. I have a large box that should work and will see if I can procure some faux snow. I think I also have some old bricks lying around. HMMMMMM. I actually like red and white lights, as well as blue and white--but my neighbor has blue and white, so I think I'll stick with red and white for a candy cane look. I agree that the lights on the japanese maples aren't my favorite, and that they detract from my christmas tree indoors. I guess I could put them on the bushes to the left of the porch? (There are some large overgrown evergreen bushes to the left, though I'm not sure they show up well in the pictures...) I AM having fun--love decorating my new home for the holidays! Such a fun time! I still have work to do indoors--we're having a party in a week and I have a lot to do before then....See MoreWhat decor for new mantle or leave naked?
Comments (24)Thank you for all your sweet comments! It looks like the majority like it as is. I like the clean look as well and would prefer it as is just wanted to make sure that it didn't look like " I forgot something". I like a few accent pieces to beautify but clutter everywhere makes me crazy! Ha! arch_gw I wanted the mantle for the look (going for traditional and classic not modern) and will use it for greenery at Christmas time. RoseAbbey- hopefully it doesn't look too large as we built the whole thing custom for that TV. Lol we purposely wanted the spaced filled up around the tv so it looked more built-in and custom....See Morehow can I decorate my mantle
Comments (15)HI -- You have no room for things on the mantel and I don't think it needs anything . Have some glass shelves in the spaces on each side or a pair of free standing shelf stands . Try mot placing the decor items in the left and right and center arrangements. Place pictures to one side and the swan to the other and put another small framed photo with the other photos and then a small bowl vase with flowers or plant in front of the swan or a bigger potted orchid in a blue and white Asian style pot with the swan . Real or fake is fine too . You need to add some color to the room ....See Moremantle decor with shelves advice on how to pick what goes on them?
Comments (2)Hey Laura... here's one idea from houzz.com: "Pick a color palette. I think keeping the color palette simple is key to a pleasing composition." With fireplace's bronze/ gold, maybe you have an item with gold rim... and maybe you can show other items you consider in cobalt / bright blue. But really I'd like to know what accent colors the rest of the room has. :) https://www.houzz.com/magazine/handmade-home-how-to-style-your-bookcase-stsetivw-vs~1338801...See Morejck910
