Before moving on that TV will be too high for proper viewing , what are you planning on dispalying in the shelves? Shiplap ship has sailed long ago and sunk. No to any shiplap wall . The way to brighten a space is with lighting wall colr has very little to do with that. I have no idea of your atual style but IMO those bokcases just look like addons with no thought to what the rest of that wall will look like so maybe share the design fot e the TV area, If the cabinet doors have not been made IMO lower the TV and that cabinet underneath for sure.If no doors and only drywall then for sure lower that .

Patricia, First, under this 77 inch TV there will be a linear fireplace the exact length of TV. So the TV is as low as it can be. As the Fireplace will be only 8 inches off the floor and is 18 inches in height. So this give me approximately 6 inches of space between TV and FP.
As far as the cabinets are concerned, yes they are add ons but they will be tied into the whole unit with matching crown moldings and painted a color that I had hoped would be appropriately recommended here. As I stated, We are near the beach in a beach town and wanted bright coastal colors especially where the back of this livingroom is not that bright with natural light the way it is now and we thought that a white washed distressed plank wall would add to the coastal motif.
My question or concern was the colors for the cabinets and the color for the walls on each side of the cabinets and the media center itself.
Though you gave your critical opinion which I can appreciate, I really didn’t see any constructive opinions or recommendations. Thank you though.

Not a pro but I feel distressed shiplap next to the painted cabinets wouldn’t be a good look. See below link to horizontal shiplap that’s not distressed which I feel would look better, although also note it ties into ceiling, and you seem to have texture (popcorn) ceiling so it wouldn’t give the same look.

Another alternative to shiplap might be putting some stone or tile just in area between bookcases, then adding down lights to bookcases with glass shelves.
I don’t feel you have to necessarily add elements like shiplap to achieve a beachy look, just keep It light and bright but add warmth with some natural elements.

Gray, light gray, whitewashed anything (and...beige flooring?) doesn't sound like it's going to make the bright coastal colors you want. I guess I'm supposed to say that if you looooove shiplap, then go right ahead, but it won't be a forward-looking decor style.

I think your idea to add mirrors and lighting is your best bet. I would skip the shiplap, and just paint solid colors. Congrats on getting a condo near the coast! Sounds nice.

I think white cabinets would look good and be consistent with coastal style. I suggest you don't go with a stark white as your floors are a warm color. Usually when people think of coastal they are envisioning white and blue with some warm natural wood or wicker or rattan for warmth and texture. As for the shiplap, setting aside the question of whether it's in or out, ask yourself if you would miss it if it weren't there. You can probably live without it and get the mood you're looking for without it, thereby saving yourself money and effort.

Google "DIY faux shiplap" if you love the look. Then if you tire of it or put the place on the market, you can simply paint over your "shiplap." It sounds to me like you should change the rug to something with more of what you call bright beachy colors and go there to find your paint color for the cabinetry/built-in. On the other hand, black is a classic in any environment.

Just because someone says shiplap is out doesn’t mean it won’t look great. If you love something why not put it in your home! I vote just painting the shiplap the same white as the bookcases. However, you could always whitewash first to see how you like it then just paint over them solid white if you need to.
