I am thinking either 24 inch going into 18 inch or

Because of the sink,

I think 24 inch to 18 would work but where do I buy these products?

Here is my space.

I have a 24 in there now.

Any help is appreciated

It seems to me that you are like two separate families living in the same house. That in her mind, it is "we" meaning her and her son, and "them" meaning you and your kids. Perhaps a counselor could help you and your wife an all of the kids to become a true family, where you are all working together as a family, caring about each other, and all following the same rules. You two need a "good" counselor to help achieve this goal, and for you and your wife to "come together" and parent these kids in a way where you feel you can trust her to be loving and fair with your children, and she can trust you to be loving and fair to Jordan. Perhaps a counselor could help you find ways to unite, such a holding family nights one night a week, where you play a short board game together or play music and sing and laugh together, and spend a few minutes having a family meeting talking about whatever the counselor says would be a healthy way to cover the families upcoming week. Anyway, as I thought about your your struggles, this is the thought that kept coming back to me. To somehow bring you and the children together as one family. I think that is how I would present it to your wife and the marriage counselor. Tell your wife that this is not working for you, or anyone in the house. Tell her that you believe that your marriage, and this family can be so much better, but that you need someone to help you both find your way to bringing this family together as one family, and coaching you both in how to accomplish this goal. Let the counselor help you learn how to handle discipline issues, and learn how to handle these situations in a way that you can both trust each other in this area. You sound like a good father, trying to do the right thing by your children and your wife. I fear that disengaging from Jordan may backfire, as it would seem easier to correct bad behavior now while he is so young, than deal with behavior that is ignored during his youth, and having these issues in a teenager that has never been dealt with.

Are you ok with the kids being across the house at such young ages? 17 x 19 is a quite large great room. I would consider it small if you were planning on also putting your dining table in it, but you have a separate breakfast nook and a separate dining room so you're fine. Personally I don't like the stairs where they are next to your master, and that you have to walk through the dining area to use them. And like you I think the master bath needs some work. I don't love the kitchen layout. I would highly suggest posting your kitchen layout in the kitchen forum to get the best advice available. Better than most kitchen designers! And post in the bath forum for bath advice. Is the padded enclosure for you for when the kids get out of hand? ;) Overall though it is a very good layout.

I would opt for bigger bath and one shared closet. Would overall be less cramped for space. If you do the closet with a wall closet system with various drawers and hangers there is more than ample space for you both. If not, then you have too many clothes. In my closet I have 3 drawers and a hanger above those in multiple areas, then I have hangers for long clothes, and we have corner shelving and shelves for storage on top. Lots of space. Shoe rack on the floor under the long clothes.

Looking for real solid wood bath vanity 37 inches wide under $500.00

Cabinets have not been made of “solid wood” ever. Someone’s ignorant wood snobbery is getting the better of them. Cabinets have been made of furniture board for over 40 years, and there are still 40 year old furniture board cabinets serving duty with no issues. Any water event that is serious enough to damage furniture board will damage plywood. Solid wood will warp in the presence of humidity swings like a bathroom.

I looked for something similar and didn't find much--there was one stock vanity like this (I'll see if I can hunt it down later--though it stepped back on both sides, so not quite the same) but otherwise, I think you need to go through a cabinet shop. Basically, you'd place a standard vanity next to another shallower base cabinet and then have a custom top made. We skipped it since that would have blown our budget, and while I'd prefer a wider aisle all else being equal, the standard depth vanity has worked out fine. If you have room for 18" depth across the board, I'd consider just doing an 18" vanity. In our case, I was trying to clear a window and run the vanity right to the wall, and finally just gave up and pulled the vanity 6" off the wall, which worked out fine.

You could just do a 21" vanity next to an 18" cabinet with a custom top--most cabinet companies should be able to do that for you. 21" is the standard vanity depth (with top = 22" deep). You may even have room to do that across the board, though I can see why you'd want to step it back from the doorway.

Thank you for the quick reply! That makes sense and I did see the cabinet you are talking about that was shallow on both sides. I do have room for 18" all the way down the wall. I could only find a few that were long - 48 inches - I may revisit this. I would have to see if the plumbing would work because to add insult to injury the plumbing comes up thru the floor! 21 next to 18 sounds but hard to find 18 deep vanity with drawers. Plus it would need to match the 21". Pretty frustrating. I thought just keep the 24 inch style I have now and put a ladder shelf of something next to it. I really don't want that, though. Someone mentioned using kitchen cabinets as an option. I may look into this as well. Thanks so much!

That would be a custom vanity. Are you near any Amish/Mennonite areas? They do wonderful custom work.
