toddimt! Thanks so much! I just measured across the opening last night, because my husband had me worried that there just wasn't enough room for anything in that little space! It's over 17", so once the carpenter finishes I think it'll be perfect. I was so so happy to see those specs. Carpenter is out of town so I can't ask him. Are you pleased with your drawers? Can you fit much in them? Do you wish you'd put in a Super Susan instead? I'm still very excited to get the drawers, but I'd love to get other opinions. Thanks so much for your quick reply.

Their store just off 301 is small & kind of sad. Go out the back door & under the covered area where it looks like they have 2000 doors. You really have to weed thru the stuff, but you'd be surprised. Their warehouse on Old Leonardstown Rd is only open Sat & Sun. I haven't been there yet. I never used to find what I needed at these places, either. Then I started haunting Community Forklift. I realized they got stuff in weekly and now it seems I almost always find something I need. I would really like to find old, paned windows that I could hang on my porch (after I rebuild it). The height of the screened area is 54", so tall is hard to find. I'm going back there tomorrow, though. They have a preemergent that's usually $30-some a bag for $5.00 and it's biodegradable. Cock-a-doodle-do. It's corn & chicken poop. Yummy. Not sure if this would work or if it would be something you might consider, but maybe you could cut one of the legs off your shelf and just install the longer piece. You might have to add a brace to the one side if there are no holes in that location. You could also install a second shelf so that you have a staggered shelving situation. Maybe use the two shelves that you have for one of your cabinets and install an aftermarket lazy Susan in your other cabinet.

Are you locked on the bi-fold door idea? I'm personally not a fan.... Not sure if you can re-use the door(s) for (what I think would be) a simpler two separate doors design (will still require wide-angle hinges of some sort): I've had that in my previous kitchen and was pretty happy with it - certainly compared to bi-folds which were (in my experience) annoying to use and felt kind of flimsy - just need to make sure that only one of the two cabinet door has a pull/knob in this case, otherwise they may clash:
