Pinus Strobus ‘Sea Urchin’

My Sea Urchin is looking bad. We’ve had very high temperatures and a severe drought this summer in Connecticut. It’s not an issue of cleaning out the dead needles. I make sure all of my pines are clean. I read somewhere that it helps to remove a few branches to increase airflow. Would that help? This us the 2nd one to die on me which is depressing because Sea Urchin is a favorite. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks.
