Living room wall decor
Thinking about doing a floating photo ledge above couch. What color ledge? Walls are a cream, carpet & couch are grey. Want to break up the grey tones. Also, does length and placement with the tape look right? Any other suggestions besides a photo ledge?

last yearIf you put photos up that high no one will be able to see them. If you lower the shelf, people will bang into it. Probably not the best place to put one and the wall is big enough that you could hang a couple of large pieces of art and bring some color and vibrancy to your room. Are any of the photos something that would look decorative (landscapes or buildings similar) and nice blown up and framed? You can find reasonably priced large art prints or posters that would look great there.
These are not fine art by any means, but just meant to show size and scale. Not everyone cares about having fine or original art, but if you do, scout out art shows or craft fairs where local artists display.
Here's a picture shelf hung lower with larger size pics and art so you can see the pics and it's not too cluttered

Based on the suggestions, I will be shopping for artwork, or at least large frames (could print something) and will experiment with sizes and sets of two or three. I love the inspiration picture, and really like the unmatched pictures. I ordered new end tables. Will probably wait until they arrive and then look for new lamps. I wish I could put a table behind the couch, but there is not enough room. Where would I put a torchiere lamp? We recently bought cordless shades, and took down the valances, and haven't put anything back up, but I will definitely start looking for something soon. . I am so glad I posted this. I have been lurking, but nervous about posting because there are so many beautiful homes and I know nothing about décor, and am constrained by budget and infant/toddler-friendly choices. Many have art auctions starting at .99 cents or less. I have only dealt with a few personally and can vouch 100% for Jose Truillo and Melissa, its up to you to check ratings on the rest.
