I really like the bookcase on the accent wall - seems like it would overpower the wall next to the kitchen entrance. It looks really nice where it’s at in the pic. I agree with you about the gorgeous reflections on it too. If you don’t *have* to have a 2 person office I’d leave it as-is and enjoy the open space. If you do have to add a second desk would it work to put one facing the windows in front of the railing? You’d have to forgo the chaise (which sounds amazing) but it may be an idea to play with.

It depends on what you do in the office and how much you want to spend, but I would: Get rid of the rug entirely and leave the floor au natural, but add a desk chair mat under your chair to protect the floor. Add a few tall shelves or bookcases, depending on what you need them for (files vs equipment vs books) -- Ikea has some nice options that aren't expensive and are easy to assemble. I'd add colour to the window covering (different drape? coloured tie?) and then decide if you want art work/photos and/or a corkboard/white board. If your peripherals (like printers, etc) are small, you may want to consider something like Ikea's Kallax series, because they could fit in some of the boxes, while you use others for books or baskets. I wish I'd thought of that before I got the storage unit I did.

I would center the rug in front of the window. place the desk in front of the window with your back to the window. face the loveseat/sofa toward the window, facing the front of the desk (in the middle of the room) as if a client is talking to you as you sit at the desk.

My gut reaction is to move the door the hall, and have the storage wrap around, with the desk perhaps facing the wall shared with the foyer. I don’t think there’s room to float a desk. The storage can change height to go under the window. One advantage to this is, you have a chance at a bit of a view to the front from the kitchen, and a bit of shared light to the hall. If this were myoffice, I would have a table, probably oval, maybe a pencil drawer, in the middle-ish, doors facing both kitchen and foyer, and shallow low storage drawers all around, with shelves probably in the nook. and I use a simple chair, adjustable height and swivel, but wood seat and back, no wheels. But that’s me, for how I work, now just taking care of personal/family/executor affairs.
