Flooring Design Dilemma Bathrooms

Floor/Shower Tile ideas with Bertch Driftwood Birch vanity

We're remodeling a hall bath and will have a Bertch Driftwood Birch vanity, white/creamy quartz top, matte black faucets/hardware and (in a separate toilet/shower room) a white Kohler tub and toilet. I'm stuck on picking tile and would love suggestions.

Would like a calm, organic palette, with 12 x 24 smooth/glazed matte porcelain tile. I first imagined a creamy travertine-look porcelain tile for both floor and shower walls, but haven't found anything I love (within a reasonable budget). Open to different floor/shower tiles. Not a lot of natural light in the shower/toilet room (one window), no natural light in the vanity room.

Thanks for any suggestions. Here are photos of vanities in the same finish, which also have vanity tops similar to the quartz I'm thinking of.

I am a bit confused I usually start with the floor so I need pics of your space and I never understand a room with a toilet and a shower together the 2 spaces IMO do not belong together in fact I hate toilet rooms always. For sure not one where the person having the shower has to share with someone using the toilet .Pics of your stuff are needed for sure.

Thanks - don’t have pics of the space at the moment; I’ll see if I can get some.

And I might not have chosen to separate the vanity area from the rest of the bathroom but that is the way our home was built. Our now-adult sons who shared the bathroom for most of their lives (who are, admittedly, not professional designers) all insist that that (possibly odd) arrangement of the bathroom was key to allowing them to share the bathroom peacefully as teens. So it’s staying.

Sorry, my bad. With all the numbers in my head, I always mess up with the size.. It is indeed 60" vanity. It was a tough decision between 54" Bertch Bath Osage in Brindle vs 60" Bertch Marketplace Visage in Sable.I was ready to place the order for 54" when my husband pointed that the toilet will be 14" away from the toilet paper holder(which will be on the vanity side) and that might be an issue with kids. I did not wanted a stand alone holder plus needed someone to give me a push for the 6 drawers as well.:):) One question. My faucet is chrome but I took brushed nickel hardware for the vanity. For the above the vanity light, can I go brushed nickel as well? Will the chrome faucet look odd? I was reading in one of the posts, might be posted by linelle, that we can mix n match the colors as long as they r not different family. Thanks

Well, I never think wood floors are a good choice for a bathroom, so I'd go with tile. However, my own prejudice is that woodgrain tile is something that will look dated in 10 to 15 years. Many people love it, but it seems overly popular, and there are a lot of other fads that looked terrific at the time that now are also dated. I keep a file of decorating ideas, and sometimes I'm shocked at what I thought looked really great 10 years ago. My own -- admittedly biased, curmudgeonly, and opinionated -- view is that something that looks like wood should be made out of wood, something that is made out of tile should look like tile, and something that is made out of Formica shouldn't look like denim. However, you should do whatever makes you happy. I'm just suggesting that choosing a tile that is clean and classic, and that doesn't necessarily match the wood floor, is worth considering.

Wood-Carrara Marble vanity: what goes with?

I just ordered a 48" vanity from Bertch, in this style but with a cherry/driftwood finish and Carrara marble top, rectangle undermount sink. I am converting tub to shower. Now I need to make compatible choices for shower tile, flooring, etc. A local tile shop suggested an Italian 4x20 subway style tile in a matte finish ("Brickwall" -- in oyster, which he says would go well with the marble, or white). I am thinking of Marmoleum for flooring, but what colors, in light gray range? Wuould welcome any suggestions, just getting started!

1. both mosaics have marble in them and tight intricate grout lines. I dont want marble in the shower. I have marble floor in one shower in another barhroom; its fine, but I do have to be careful. I have a marble mosaic in my master bath shower. I've had it for 4 years. I don't use special body soaps or special anything. Only thing I don't use in that shower is bleach. I've had no issues with mine and mine also has onyx in it. Additionally, think of all the marble that is used throughout Europe and it's been around a lot longer than us and gets more abuse than we'll ever give it in a shower. 2. cost. these mosaics are 70-90 SF . How big is that shower and how long are you planning on staying in your house? My shower is 4' x 5' so if I used my measurements, and the higher $90 sq foot number, that would mean I'm paying $1800 for the shower floor. Now I know in my house I'm planning on staying here at least 10 years. That breaks down to $180 a year for that gorgeous tile or $15 a month. Is it worth giving up two Starbucks Thin Mint Mocha's a month for a floor you love and will be looking at daily? Of course only you can decide. :)

I think the benefit is someone EITHER showering OR using the facilities can have privacy from someone else brushing teeth or shaving. Not using both at the same time.
