There are a few nurseries close to me with nice perennial selections. You could call a few to see if they have the plant you’re looking for in stock. I’ve purchased plants from Bluestone, but the plants are pretty small and expensive. I usually purchase from them when they’re having a sale or if they have something I can’t find locally and have to have....See MoreWhat do you think of Olivia Rose Austin??
Comments (85)Ben, Sorry Olivia didn’t bloom a lot by 1 1/2 years. I think the 3rd year is considered the mature year, at least for own-roots. 3rd year is tge charm! Lol! My Moonlight in Paris does bloom non-stop huge flushes all the time!!!! MIP may be my best bloomer next to Walking on Sunshine. MIP has blooms all over all the time-she’s a floribunda. Plum Perfect & Kimberlina are blooming all the time all over, too! And a few bush roses like The Fairy are blooming all the time, too. @CeresMer Zone 7a NJ , I am excited to hear that your Olivia bloomed non-stop 2nd year. I think next year will be my Olivias full 2nd year-hoping for lots of blooms!!! Our weather is similar. If I have her in a sunny enough spot she will perform well! We will see! I may get another & put her in a sunnier spot! She has no BS-so she is a super winner for me! Out of my 120 roses, Olivia is one of the few with zero BS ever…. pouring rains damp soil in fall ongoing. Ok, I think Olivia is gorgeous! I have one similar that blooms kinda like Olivia, called Vicontesse Decaux, (a cross of Earth Angel & Winchester Cathedral), but Vicontesse doesn’t have as beautiful a foliage or bloom as much as Olivia....See MoreWhere do you purchase your David Austin roses from?
Comments (23)Bella mine have done pretty well for me here. I don't know the answer to own root vs grafted. Some of mine were new last year so too early to say much, although Christopher Marlow, Princess Alexandra of Kent, and Sharifa did really well for first year roses. Some that I've had for a while are GT, GC, Munstead Wood, Olivia Rose, Mary Rose, Scepter, Queen of Sweden. Of those, I think the best performers for me have been Scepter, Olivia, Mary, and MW. They pretty much all die to the ground over winter, but I don't do much in the way of winter protection. I really hope Christopher winters well, I got 2 and they had blooms pretty much all the time....See MoreDavid Austin’s in pots
Comments (91)If you want a fluffy pink, have you considered Princess Alexandra of Kent? She's about 3.5 x 2.5 and, according to David Austin, has a "delicious fresh tea fragrance with aspects of lemon and blackcurrants." Princess Alexandra of Kent I wouldn't know since I do not grow her, but if I had any space left open, I would definitely plant her in my garden. Austin adds that she is highly fragrant and very healthy also and "ideal for pots and containers." Really BIG blooms, I'm told. Kate...See Morerifis (zone 6b-7a NJ)
