Comments (28)I'm just a basic cook, certainly not of the caliber of other GWers here. I envy their talent. I used to love to cook and to experiment with recipes. And then I had kids and well, things changed. :) DH wants to take cooking lessons with me so hopefully I'll get to be more adventurous and skilled again. Buying a pan from different lines to try it out is my plan, alex9179. I read good reviews on Farberware's Millenium line and it's reasonably priced so I'll start there. And I plan to ask Santa for a Le Crueset Dutch oven, maybe a red one to go with my scarlet Fiestware dishes. :) And I will definitely check out cookware at the link you included, thanks! Thanks to you, too, sjhockeyfan, for the cookware suggestions. sjhockeyfan and westsider, thanks for the tips about using the touch pad. I've been known to press the keys on my keyboard harder than necessary as if it were an old-fashioned typewriter like the ones I learned to type on. Oops. Interesting, westsider, about the amp requirements. We wouldn't have had an issue since we added an extra panel over a year ago to handle the big power tools my hubby inherited from my dad (both hobby woodworkers). We haven't filled up the new circuit breaker so we have power to spare. Not a bad situation to be in. I compared the kW of the 8666 to the discontinued 5665. They are nearly identical; the only difference I could see was for the middle burner. The 8666 has a higher kW. And yet the overall electrical connection requirement is less. Curious. Well, as long as I can use all 5 burners (not all on boost, I know that much) on the rare occasions when I need to, I'll be happy. Thanks, again, everyone, you've been immensely helpful (even if I did get a little confused there for a bit). sjhockeyfan, I gotta ask. Are you in the Bay area? My DS1 moved there in March and couldn't wait to go to a hockey game. Doesn't care for other sports that much but he loves hockey. I think he likes it mostly for the fights. Like the old joke: I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out. :)...See MoreFrigidaire Professional 36" Induction cooktop VS Bosch Benchmark 36"
Comments (4)Note that the Bosch Benchmark has one slider control for all elements; you select an element and then move the slider to adjust its power level. If using more than one element simultaneously, you select one or the other before adjusting the power level. The Frigidaire obviously has a control for each element....See MoreBertazzoni Professional vs Fulgor Milano Sofia vs Cafe CommericalStyle
Comments (11)Hi, I have been looking extensively at Bertazzoni Master Series and Fulgor Pro Series. I LOVE the temp dial on the Bert, however we have decided to go with Fulgor. The soft close door is dreamy, I believe that Fulgor uses a lower gauge steel in the oven cavity (meaning thicker steel, more durable IMHO) it was quite noticeable. Additionally, the cooktop/rangetop uses a black porcelain/enamel surface vs stainless steel and I think that will be easier to clean. We have friends with a Bert range and they love it, they bake a lot and theirs is dual-fuel, which I understand that electric has better heat consistency in the oven. And the kitchen suite we have configured is lower cost than Bert when rebates are used. My $.02 .I did speak to the perso at Bert Service who schedules service calls and she was quite confident that the calls they get are typical components that can fail, not major issues, I felt very comfortable after that call. In the end, I just felt Fulgor was higher quality. Italian design is awesome, you'll love either....See MoreBosch Benchmark HIIP057U vs LG Studio LSIS6338F induction range
Comments (10)Thank you guys. @theresa21 , I had a range in the past with the same overhanging glass top (and actually broke the top after a counter install because I was impatient and tried to move it in by myself!) and found that a grease combo would kind of stick in the crease between the counter and the top. Maybe that's not a concern with the Bosch. We shall see. @cpartist Thanks! Do you find that you get enough heat to the entire pan with the lower right burner? I suppose I could always use the bridge burner as a primary if the smaller right burner isn't enough. @Toronto Veterinarian I totally understand where you're coming from. My last decent quality range (in our old house before we sold it and became renters) was an Electrolux range. Given, the "screen" was separated from the flat top so thing were less prone to spilling on it, but I didn't find it to be much of an impediment, and quite like being able to just wipe everything down without needing to pull knobs to get under them. Plus I have a tendency to lean on the front of my range while working on longer cooking projects. Sounds like the Bosch is the ticket for me....See MorePriya Kesavan
