History Garden z7b Lubbock, TX

Hello All,

It has been a long time since I have posted but please know I think of you all and Dawn frequently :)

I have started a school garden that currently includes a rainbow garden, sensory garden, pollinator garden and (5) consumable gardens. Next spring, I would like to dedicate one of the consumable beds to a history garden- which can still include consumables. I'm thinking of plant varieties that might inspire the students to look up the person(s), place or event and inspire a love for both plants and the historical stories they can pass down to us!

Here is a quick example: King Tut Papyrus: who is King Tut? Why was Papyrus an important plant to the ancient Egyptians? How do you make paper from it?

What other plant varieties would you suggest?
