Comments (15)I’d find a fabric that you love with your wall color....and start there. Or, find a large area rug with that color in it as your inspiration. A Persian style, perhaps, that includes other colors that can be picked out for fabrics to dress your windows, your bed, and seating in front of your beautiful fireplace. I feel an elegant style emerging..... I know that Houzz designers will come up with idea boards that will inspire you! A lovely room!...See MoreHELP! ECLECTIC FIREPLACE UPDATE

Comments (37)I think there are more important issues than what to put on a wall. The couch is huge and takes over the room, and none of the other furniture is working with it. Too much beige. The tired pillows need colorful pillow covers. Toss the “accessories” on the side table and fireplace and the one lonely too-small lamp on the side table. The side table should go and either get a side table to match the coffee table or replace them both. Two floor lamps for reading are needed on either end of the sofa as well as sconces over the fireplace and additional lighting. The TV is set too high to watch. The baby furniture is not a good look but I understand if it is necessary. I would however put the baby seat away unless it is being used. The set of smaller photos on the wall opposite the fireplace does not work as they are too small and do not make an impact lined up along the wall. This room needs some color. If you can do it, what I would do is to either take apart the too-large couch and reconfigure it so that there are two seating areas facing each other on either side of the fireplace, and the TV moved to the wall where you would like to put something, along with bookcases and TV storage that would surround the TV. That is, a large nice-looking storage unit. Then you could have an interesting display above the fireplace, say, a mirror and some photos. Something personal....See MoreHow to decorate this large wall that has fireplace and windows?
Comments (7)If your vertical blinds are in good shape and you like them (I think on those upper windows is one of the rare good uses of them --- real MCM success!) then keep them. Now: Rather than put up that piece of art, paint the biggest part of the chimney that is the golden the darkest shade of blue in the art work, Then paint inside the niche the lightest shade of blue in the art work. (Don't paint the wall. Just the niche.that is part of the chimney.) Or do it vice versa: big field of light blue and tiny niche of dark blue. I would hope you like it so much you can just leave it at that, but maybe you would like to put a white spiral of material in the niche. Or a very tall white ceramic, or a plant You could hang your art work between the sofa and fireplace -- or maybe after you paint the fireplace two different shades of blue, the art work would look very interesting hung on it -- but maybe hung on the upper right half, not the lower right half. Or think about hanging it over the entry to the kitchen, but off-center, well to the left. The point is to work with the architectural big blocks of your constructed space. They are all off-center and juxtaposed, so try to create your own juxtapositions with color blocking. (I was looking at this below other day. It might look really interesting in your niche, painted or unpainted) https://www.chairish.com/product/6625304/tall-rustic-mid-century-wooden-spiral-hand-crafted-hanging-vintage-home-decor...See MoreUser
