The current table is very rustic with cracks in the wood which gets really gross with food. I was thinking of getting a more modern table with a smooth top.

We inherited the current table from the previous owners of the house.

I don't love either of those with your floors. How about this color?

I think the wood floor warm up the space and I am not a lover of parsons table how many people do you need to seat in there ? Maybe get a nice pedestal table oval to get some releif from all the squared corners. I love wishbone chairs if you did the pedestal table in the same wood as the floors and black wishbone chairs that might look pretty good and then 2 colored stools .

Am thinking that a table with top similar in color to your countertops might look good. The kitchen is warmed up by your flooring. So, don't know that you necessarily need more wood tones. Think I like the idea of contrasting your table with the flooring similar to your countertops. Good luck!

I like your current table better than these. The rustic juxtaposed with the modern is more appealing than the parsons table. Have you considered getting a glass top cut for the table so that its beauty shines through…and it is more practical as an eating surface? That is what I would do.

The one I showed was maple with the shell stain.

If it has to be those two choices, I’d go with the lighter one.

If this is the Room&Board table I think it is … I think you could find a nicer looking table in that price range (with a solid surface in your material of choice).

I’m so confused now. We definitely want to go with wood. I bought a white tulip table and it didn’t like it it, felt too cold. Room and board also has the Walsh table. Either way I think I’d pair the table with black wishbone chairs. Here’s the Walsh table.

I don't know these particular products, but a lot of R&B wood stuff is solid maple or walnut, not stained maple or walnut, and species matters for durability. For a table in general, I'd want maple, but if you get the second table, I'd still prefer the walnut. I think I like darker legs here, whatever the top is. And you might not be as hard on things as I am. :)

I'd prefer a more organic shaped table with wishbone chairs--these are so industrial. But I guess the table sort of fades into the background, and these make good use of the space.

Love the comment about how they are the same as what you've got. I guess they are all rectangular and therefore the same? Ha!

Everyone has been so helpful! I got to thinking and am now wondering if my current rustic table could work in the space with a mid century modern wishbone chair. If so, I’m wondering about all black vs black with natural. Any thoughts?

Looks-wise, I think they’d be fine, you can see lots of examples of them with various table styles doing a search.

I’ve never had one, so can’t comment if they’re comfortable.
